About the adventure

Oracle of War is a full length D&D Adventurers' League campaign set in the pulp-noir, steampunk-like world of Eberron. We will not be strictly following League rules, and there will be some homebrew added. In this adventure, Players take on the role of salvagers: a group of gritty go-getters who explore the Mournland - a twisted region of mutants, living spells, and where the dead lie frozen in time. In this abominable place, they find a mysterious, and valuable, artifact. Uncovering the mysteries of the Oracle of War will take us on an adventure to far reaches of Khorvaire. What is the Draconic Prophesy and how does it relate to our simple salvage crew? The Salvage Bases and Missions supplement gives the party the option to build their own custom base using parts salvaged from the Mournland. If it's built up enough the base can even become a mobile operations center that can travel into the deepest places. This will be a long-term campaign played weekly at 8 PM Eastern Time (5 PM Pacific). I expect the campaign to last 1-2 years and go from lev 1 to 20. We will skip some holidays but otherwise it will be very rare for sessions to be canceled or weeks skipped. Cover Art: Open AI

How to prepare

Your #1 priority is to have a working microphone, headset, and a stable internet connection. If you have those, I am always happy to help you through everything else. You will need access to Discord for voice chat. This can be on your computer or mobile device. Video chat is optional. You will need free accounts on dndbeyond.com and roll20.net. You can choose or build your character on DnD Beyond ahead of time if you like. If possible, you should also install the browser extension, "Beyond20" which will make your life much easier by letting you use DnD Beyond, Roll20, and Discord together. If you need help getting any of these set up, please contact me and I will be glad to help you out.

What I provide

I will be providing a private Discord server, virtual maps and tokens via Roll20, and all D&D sourcebooks, which I can share with you on dndbeyond.com. I will also have the full Oracle of War campaign and Salvage Bases and Missions supplement.

Gameplay details

As an Adventurers' League game, the main campaign will be more 'on rails' than the games I usually run. The Salvage Bases and Missions supplement will add some opportunity for sandbox gaming. Roleplaying will be part of the game, but will not be a heavy focus in the adventure. (If you strongly prefer RP, any of my other Eberron games would probably be a great fit for you). We will be using Roll20's built in safety deck, which includes Red (STOP/X), Yellow (Caution/N) and Green (Continue/O) cards. Content will generally be PG-13 with some violence and mild sexual innuendos. Language may veer into Rated-R territory because I have a potty mouth and I'm not ashamed of it.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level one. Character Sheets will be hosted on DND Beyond. I will have pre-made characters available or you can make your own. You can build/choose ahead of time or wait until session 0. If you choose to build your own you may use any official, published D&D material. No Unearthed Arcana or homebrew without prior approval. Use either Point Buy or Standard Array for abilities. If more than one player want to play the same class, we'll discuss how to make it work in session Zero. Generally it's fine as long as you pick a few different options, like sub-class or spell choices.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Medium
  • Experience Level: Open to all
