Mystery at Thorngage Manor

About the adventure

Few have dared to venture close to the old settlement. That's due to the rumors. Rumors that something watches you as you walk around the central path between the buildings. Stories are told by parents that children disappear who venture through the woods and go too close to Thorngage Manor. A few adventurers have declared they were heading to get the treasures but have not been heard from since they embarked on their mission. Perhaps they found the treasure and headed off to their retirement in some Southern city...or perhaps not. This role-play focused one-shot adventure includes mystery, a few horror moments, and some challenging battle scenes. It is designed to give players an introduction to the rural villages and vast forests of the Anhult Wildlands. It is laid out for a 4 - 4.5 hour game session with level 1-3 characters. 3-6 Players will be able to use their skills and wit to uncover the mysteries behind Thorngage Manor, they just better make sure their weapons are sharpened too.

How to prepare

For the best experience I ask everyone to use a webcam and mic with the camera turned on, if you are uncomfortable with the camera on, that is not a problem. You can user your phone for the webcam and mic, I recommend downloading the Discord app. To see the Roll20 room you will need a PC, Laptop, Chromebook, or Mac. I recommend installing Beyond20 (in Chrome/Firefox https://beyond20.here-for-more.info/install) to use with the D&D Beyond Character Sheet.

What I provide

You can share any character art you have for use in tokens, I can provide tokens with generic images if you don't have character art.

Gameplay details

This game contains the following themes - mystery, a few moments of horror and challenging battle scenes. We will use tools from the TTRPG Safety Toolkit including communication before the game, review of hard and soft limits, safety cards, and other tools.

How will character creation work

We will generate characters before the game. I will provide a link to my Discord server. From there you will get additional guidelines including a link to my campaign on D&D Beyond. If you need to build a character or to get access to books, start there, my account has content sharing. You can connect a current D&D Beyond Character Sheet with this link as well. I will provide the Roll20 room link along with those guidelines. We will have a text channel in the discord server just for this game to introduce yourself to the other players, handle any questions, and review some warmup questions.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
