About the adventure

Galora, the #1 fashion designer in Secreto, has announced her merger with Prism-Weave fashion industries. To celebrate she has invited some friends and family to an extravagant dinner party, but things may not go as she planned as this big business move has now painted a target on her back. In Secreto the fashion industry can be as ruthless as it is beautiful. In this "gumshoe" style one-shot murder mystery of my own creation you will follow clues, interact with various NPC suspects, and get to the bottom of what is going on in this creepy house. Secret passages, nefarious motives, and a murderer most foul lurk around every corner in the creaky mansion. This one-shot is very combat light and mostly uses the players deductive skills to piece together the clues you find. This game will be played on Foundry VTT.

About me

I run mostly homebrew DnD 5E, Pathfinder 2E, Starfinder 1E, and Starfinder 2E games using Discord and Foundry VTT. I have been playing since 2012 and DMing since 2015. I try to incorporate a balance of RP, exploration, and combat into my games. I don't restrict any classes or races, as long as they're in the books you can play it. I play by the rule of cool, so always use your imagination! I started on DnD 3.5 and from there went into a Pathfinder 1e game and played that campaign for years. What I love about TTRPG's is all the innovative and creative ways to solve a problem.

Sam does a great job working with you on what YOU WANT TO DO. Who your character is, is just as important to him, as is it to you. Ive played as a character in multiple campaigns of his, as well as fought along side him in others. He brings a great energy to the table.

Balances the rules and the feel of the game well. Encourages creativity and out of the box thinking while keeping things within the bounds and mechanics of the game. And has a nice laugh.

Sam is a fantastic game master in every single version of the game I've played with him. I have had the pleasure of being a player in multiple of his campaigns including Murder Mystery. Sam is exceptional in building a world for players to not only engage with, but begin to make their own by adding more to the narratives. In one of Sam's games, a player can truly feel like a part of something fun and unique that everyone in the process can find pride in. Moreover, Sam is easy-going and exceptionally fair-minded when working with players to build an engaging and rewarding experience. Sam is probably the only person who, when asked, I will always join any new adventure they are looking to begin.

I've been playing D&D for about 10 years now, both as a player and a DM. I have been playing with Sam for 3-4 years and can honestly say that he is one of the best DMs I've ever had. He's very skilled at designing original stories to playβ€”the murder mystery was so fun and so well done. He also prioritizes player characters, making sure everyone at the table gets their input and chance to RP. He cares about his players and the PCs in his game a lot. He's also great at rolling with what players want to do, even if it’s just a small silly moment, but still keeps the game on track and helps players stay focused on the overall goals. Overall, I highly recommend Sam as a DM if you are a player that puts care into your PC and wants a DM that does the same!

Does a good job of trying to make things fun. Puts plenty of work into encounters and puzzles.

Character creation
Creating your character

Characters will be level 4. The best way to create your character is to make it on DnD beyond and import it into Foundry VTT. We'll use the 4d6 drop the lowest format for ability scores. Your character can start with one common and one uncommon item of your choice. I don't have any restrictions on content, if it's in an official book you can use it. No homebrew items, classes, ancestries, etc. If you cannot create your character in DnD beyond then we can create your character sometime before we play, just message me and we can work it out.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

In order to play you will need a Discord account, a microphone, and a Forge/Foundry VTT account. I also recommend you have a DnD beyond account for character creation purposes.

What Samuel brings to the table

I will be utilizing ambient music through our VTT and will be doing voices for each NPC as well as descriptions of what is happening and the locations you are in. The rule of cool and innovative/creative ways of problem solving should always be rewarded. This one-shot is very low combat and can be finished without even seeing combat. You will discover clues as you go along, and you will have to piece them together. You will always get the clues you need to solve the mystery so no worries about failing a skill check, however if you ask the right questions and succeed in certain rolls you may get some amplifying information.

Homebrew rules

I don't have any homebrew rules, but the rule of cool is always in effect.
