StartPlaying is back with another tabletop RPG news roundup! This week: GAMA makes Game Store Day a thing, Cyberpunk Red gets a single-player mode, DnD 2024 tries another round of updated subclasses, and Critical Role sets up an ominous trailer for Campaign Four.

Game Store Day Is November 1, Courtesy Of GAMA

The Game Manufacturers Association, or GAMA, is starting an annual Game Store Day. The first one will take place on November 1, 2025. GAMA wants the event to draw attention to local game stores. Stores can register on GAMA’s website, reports ICv2, to get promotional materials. This includes prizes for giveaways, with the biggest being free badges to Origins Game Fair.

"Timed with the American Library Association’s International Games Month and the start of the holiday shopping season, it’s a meaningful way to bring communities together and champion local game stores as cultural hubs,” said GAMA Executive Director John Stacy.

R. Talsorian Releases Official Cyberpunk Red Single Player Mode

via DriveThruRPG

Marvel Multiverse RPG finally hit the digital storefront in PDF form, but DriveThruRPG’s current #1 seller is berpunk Red solo rules. The release is a rules supplement that still requires you to have the core rules, but provides guidance on how to set up balanced scenes for your lone merc. There’s an Oracle system that streamlines roll results into a series of “no, but” “yes, and” type of outcomes. The PDF of Cyberpunk Single-Player is $10, with higher tier options available for softcover books. It’s a great way to dip your toes in and learn the game. Of course, if you’re looking to play with a group, several StartPlaying Game Masters are running Cyberpunk

Dungeons & Dragons UA Revamps Arcane Archer, Necromancer, And More

The DnD team took another crack at updating some 2014 subclasses into 2024 rules. They dropped another Arcane subclasses playtest on D&D Beyond today this week. In the Designer Insights blog, the team spoke to changes made based on player feedback. The Arcane Archer now has several ways to use trick arrows outside of combat and more options to create distance from enemies. Many of the wizard subclasses were brought more in line with the 2014 direction of embodying their school of magic, particularly with the Necromancer being given more ways to have cannon fodder zombies at their disposal.

Critical Role Campaign 4 Trailer Hints At Dark Themes

Critical Role put out a story trailer for Campaign Four, telling the story of the aftermath of revolution that brings the 13-person cast together. In an impressive feat, it looks like DM Brennan Lee Mulligan will run for all players at once for the first few episodes. The group will split into three tables later on, mixing and matching as the story progresses. Critical Role Campaign 4’s release date is October 2

That's the end for this week’s news! Thanks for reading, and may your dice be kind.

Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to a Wizards of the Coast competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
