About me

The first time I walked into a game store in 1992 and learned to play D&D, I was immediately hooked. Not on the game--that came later--but on the energy of the place, on the shared community, and on those beautiful, clicky-clacky dice! TTRPGs quickly became my favorite form of entertainment, and within a couple of years I was running games of my own. I continued running them through college, marriage, and the start of my family, but after my second child was born we moved away and I hung up my GM hat until 2020. I later discovered 5th edition online, and it re-ignited my passion for the hobby. This version of D&D is closer to the way I like to play than any other, so I started DMing again in 2021. I jumped on board with SPG in 2023, and I love having this chance to connect with new players, start new games, and tell new stories together!

She kept it a fun and informative setting, was great with keeping us all up to date, pm’d characters info that only their character should know. I liked the music and lead ins with gentle guidance. Great at keeping the upcoming monsters a surprise.

Krystal does an amazing job creating and engaging story to draw you in and hook all the players in to give them something to be interested in and follow. She handles unexpected situations very well. She does a very good job and fitting the game to everyone's wants and needs, making sure everyone is involved and doing what they want to do.

Krystal is the best GM that I have ever had! She takes time to make sure that we're playing the type of game we want to play. She frequently checks in and implements feedback. She's kind, fun, and professional. I trust her to give my character a full, and complex world to explore!

Krystal did a great job at explaining things for beginners. It was quite a large group of new players and she handled it very well. There was a technical hiccup that she handled professionally and got things rolling again. She was very patient and understanding. Highly recommend her for a good learning experience.

Krystal was so great for myself and my partner. It was our first "professional" game. She made sure technology was working, so patient with never ending questions from us, and she did so well in educating us on our one-shot. It was a fun game that we played, and the beginning of a great adventure. She allowed us to really have fun with the game, and it was an amazing experience.

Character creation
Creating your character

Automatically approved race and class options include those in the Humblewood Campaign Guide. Options from other sources will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 1️⃣ Upon registration, you'll be asked to join my Discord server. This is where gameplay will take place. 2️⃣ Once you have, I'll connect with you in a 30-45 min call to get to know you a bit, discuss lines and veils and talk about character concepts. 3️⃣ Character creation will be done together during session 0, to form a cohesive team. If you join after session 0, we'll discuss your character together to make sure they are a good fit.

The current party

Characters are currently level 1. New races are available! D&D 2024 rules will be used.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Needed equipment: -Webcam recommended but not required -A quiet setting with minimal background noise -mouse or trackball highly recommended over touchpads--makes for an easier experience on Foundry. **IMPORTANT:** Each player's computer must meet the Foundry Client Specifications found here: https://foundryvtt.com/article/requirements/ Needed characteristics: -Experience: None! Teaching beginners is one of my favorite parts of being a DM. I will work with you to make sure you understand what's going on. -Willingness to cooperate with other players--D&D is a team game, not a competition. -This game is for people who like the roleplay aspect of D&D, so you need to be willing to try to react the way your character would. You will not be expected to use a "character voice" or speak in first person. My games are a safe place for players to explore getting into character at the rate they feel comfortable.

What Krystal brings to the table

-A safe, encouraging space for inter-party roleplay. - Large library of books from D&D Beyond and some 3rd party publishers - Creative, out of the box ideas, and the ability to flexibly respond to player choices - Special voices/characteristics for many NPCs. - Immersive music and sound effects. - A dynamic game experience. I see this as one of my greatest strengths: I'm never static as a DM; I'm always researching, learning, growing, collecting new ideas and content, responding to player feedback.

Homebrew rules

- Death saving throws are made blind (only the GM sees the result). - Matt Mercer's Resurrection rules are in play. - Certain skill checks are also made blind, such as perception and investigation. - Insight, Investigation and Perception are rolled blind. - I allow quite a bit more conversation per combat turn than the official rules. Those are the biggest changes. House rules were discussed and agreed upon during session 0. New party members will receive a copy of them, and we can go over them again together if needed.
