About the adventure

Experience this folk horror saga as envisioned by a professional TTRPG writer and game designer. This is a collaborative story where atmosphere, character choices, and dramatic twists take center stage, shaped by your character's fears, secrets, and desperate hopes. WHAT YOU GET: THE WRITER'S CUT This premium edition is built to give you a deeply personal and unforgettable story. It includes: Bespoke Introductions: Start the campaign with a custom-written Session 0.5 that ties you to the central mystery. Join later? I'll work with you to craft a unique, written introduction that brings you seamlessly into the tale. "Fated Echoes" System: Your backstory is woven into a personalized narrative arc with custom content, moral dilemmas, and unique rewards that unfold throughout the campaign. Your story matters here. Designer's Content: The adventure continues far beyond the book, taking your character all the way to level 20 with unique monsters, memorable NPCs, and challenging situations I design to enhance the story. HOW WE PLAY Our game is focused on tension, folk horror atmosphere, and strong roleplay in a safe, supportive environment. No Experience Needed: I teach all rules as we go. Your creativity is more important than your system mastery.

About me

🎲 “Hold on, let me roll Persuasion first… success!” Hello, I’m Tyler — a storyteller, designer, and lifelong gamer with decades of experience behind the screen. My players describe me as Immersive, Supportive, and Masterful. I’ve guided hundreds of players through unforgettable games at conventions, on streams and podcasts, and in home campaigns across North and South America. I’ve collaborated with publishers like Onyx Path, Free League, Chaosium, and Helmgast, and I’m also a published writer and designer with credits in both indie and professional TTRPG projects. Whether it’s your first session or your hundredth, my goal is always the same: create a safe, inclusive space where your story matters. I invite you to explore my reviews and join a game to see why so many players return to my tables again and again.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is a collaborative process. We'll meet during our free Session 0 to build your characters and deeply integrate them into the world. If you join later, we will work together to create your character in my Discord prior to your first session. As a game designer, I will personally work with you to ensure your character's concept, backstory, and motivations have a meaningful and satisfying impact on the campaign's narrative. You may use official 5e options plus material from The Crooked Moon campaign itself (Species, subclass, backgrounds, spells). Whether you’re seasoned or brand new, I’ll help weave your character into the horror of Wickermoor Hollow.

The current party

This campaign thrives on investigation, moral dilemmas, and roleplay. Ideal for players who enjoy horror atmospheres, uncovering lore, and character-driven choices. New players welcome—experienced ones encouraged to lean into narrative. Expect 3–6 players, 18+, inclusive table.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring a mic, a spirit for storytelling, and a taste for eerie folk horror. Video is optional. Prior to your first session we’ll set safety lines, build characters, and step aboard the Ghostlight Express together.

What Tyler brings to the table

I’ll provide a fully prepped Foundry VTT with moody maps, eerie artwork, matching tokens for all players based on the art you provide or that I find for you (no AI art used here) and an atmospheric soundtrack to sink you into dread. Expect a narrative style that keeps the tension sharp. PDFs will be available for reference. My focus is on deep immersion, collaborative storytelling, and player-driven narratives. You can expect rich worlds, dramatic twists, and characters who feel alive. "Failing Forward" is the Rule: Setbacks create drama, not dead ends. My job is to bring the world and NPCs to life while making sure your character shines. Choices Have Consequences: Horror, mystery, and risk bring weight to every decision, balanced with respect and aftercare. I'm Not Your Adversary: We are here to tell unforgettable stories. I love it when a player takes bold risks and leans into their character's flaws.

Homebrew rules

We’ll be using the Crooked Moon folk horror setting for 5e from Avantris Entertainment, including unique species, subclasses, backgrounds, spells, monsters, curses, and dark magic.

Safety

How Tyler creates a safe table

Player safety is a priority. We’ll use Lines & Veils, X/N/O cards (digital or physical), and a full safety discussion to set boundaries. Expect a supportive, inclusive table where folk horror can be terrifying but never unsafe.
