Jacek was an awesome GM for my first time playing Cthulu! He is a fantastic teacher and was more than happy to explain any questions that came up for me as a beginner. I've used Foundry VTT for D&D games clumsily in the past but he was able to teach it to us really succinctly for Cthulu. Jacek cares a lot about making the experience as fun and immersive as possible for the players, often checking to see how everyones experience is landing and whether there is something more he can offer to the players/game. I really enjoyed the anthology framework for the stories that let us get just invested enough in our premade characters to develop relationships and fun "bits" between "stories", but not so invested that when Cthulu did it's Cthuluing on us, it wasn't devastating when plans went awry. The amount of preparation, thoughtfulness, adaptability, and willingness to make changes based on feedback Jacek puts in as a GM are why I'd recommend him for Cthulu beginners and pros alike!

Aarons GM style is SO fun! - Incredibly immersive (like a 5-course-5-sense feast for the theater of the mind) - Wild cinematic scenes where you’re invited to play out the action rather than just state it - NPCs that feel so real you could swear you’ve met them before IRL - Open world approach gives players TONS of agency and beckons one's curiosity He provides plenty of hooks, clues, and prompts to navigate the central narrative and keep the plot moving, while emphasizing there is room for exploration and creative solutions. The “Deal with the Devil” homebrew rule is awesome. He thoughtfully honors the rule-of-cool. He would be a great GM for a beginner because he’s happy to teach/give suggestions (when requested) and he does a great job of platforming each character so anyone who is on the shy side gets equal spotlight. Anyone who has played before will immediately appreciate how well he has honed the craft of immersive collaborative storytelling.

Yoooooo. I don't even know how to put into words how awesome it is playing in Alex's original Exandria campaign right now. I joined mid-campaign and within 3 sessions I am so completely immersed in the lore and world building Alex has done. It feels utterly Exandrian in spite of being almost entirely original. They have created such a seemless expansion to what our beloved familiar Exandria is that perfectly fits the allure of discovering new hidden history AND creating exciting opportunities for our party to explore shaping the future of Exandria. After back to back history and arcana check nat 20s--I nearly stopped breathing during the lore dump because my mind was completely blown. We're talking full on edge-of-the-seat goose-bumps. We ended at 11pm and I stayed up for another 2 hours almost exclusively thinking about how awesome the session was and how excited I am for what is to come... SO immersive. SO inventive. And Alex is also whip sharp and super funny. They actually have one of my favorite distinct laughs, and if I have correctly sold you on joining one of their games you will immediately know what I mean by that. :)

DJ is awesome and I'm having so much fun in my first campaign! I was super nervous to start and he's been a great educator and extremely encouraging. He's able to weave in quick guidance/support for players whenever they need it without it disrupting the flow/pace of the narrative or combat. He creates a role playing environment that is really encouraging of creativity, exploration, and facilitates communication within the party as well as with NPCs. Each location and NPC encounter have depth and unique points of intrigue that make interactions exciting. The use of Talespire is freakin' awesome if, like me, visual comprehension is a lot more accessible for you than language based comprehension. Having 3-D visualization is super supportive for both the immersive aspect of RP and it's VERY helpful for coordinating with your party as encounters/environments increase in complexity. Aside from all the in-game magic, DJ is an awesome inclusive "space holder". The players drawn to his GMing and the larger community he's creating through other ventures are saturated with people who are supportive (like to build others up), diverse, creative, and who probably have a degree of fun chaos magic built into their human personalities as well. :)
