Futuristic
"Futuristic" describes a genre set in the future, or in a time and place that resembles a possible future more advanced than our own. Futuristic media might be optimistic or pessimistic about the nature of that future, but the continual advancement of technology is often a key feature or focus. It might be the future of Earth or human civilization, or the future of a completely fantastical society, depending on the other genres in play. But it's rarely a future less technologically advanced than the present; hallmarks of futuristic media are space travel, high technology, robots and supercomputers, and even a post-scarcity world. Futuristic roleplaying games allow us to imagine possible worlds and futures beyond what's currently possible. We can play with technology so advanced as to be indistinguishable from magic. And we can explore the relationship of humanity to such advancements as we can only begin to imagine today. Artificially intelligent singularities, faster-than-light travel, and matter reproduction are no further away than your imagination with futuristic tabletop roleplaying games! Provided, that is, you're in one of the good futures; you're just as likely to find yourself in a cyberpunk dystopia where only the hyper-wealthy have access to that sweet tech, and you've got to take it for yourselves!
