About Jay Olson
Hey TTRPG community! My name is Jay (he/they), a Twitch streamer, content creator, and passionate TTRPG player taking the plunge into becoming a Professional GM! I started playing ttrpgs/watching actual plays in 2021, and I've been incredibly excited to dive into the fresh "new" way of collaborative storytelling and fun that tabletop roleplaying games provide. I focus on queer and neurodivergent-friendly spaces within the community, as I know finding those can sometimes be difficult for those just starting their adventures into TTRGPs. I can't wait to share a table with you!

I got started GMing...
by running a game of the Candela Obscura beta quickstart on an Actual Play channel with a couple of experienced GMs as my players. I had a blast and knew it was going to be something I wanted to do again and again!
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Daggerheart, Vampire: The Masquerade, and D&D 5e.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing both ttrpg and video games with friends, snuggling my cats, and exploring my city. I also enjoy watching tv/movies and writing backstories for OCs that I hope to one day turn into novels.
How Jay Olson runs games
I love narrative roleplaying at the table, with the combat enhancing that. I'm also down for some good old-fashioned dungeon crawling every now and then. One of the biggest things I like to include, even in one-shots, is some aspect of a player's backstory into the narrative. Tying things into the larger narrative of the story is one of my favorite ways of bringing the PCs together for a common goal. I'm still new with character voices, though I do try to make NPCs as diverse as possible!

Rules are...
Guidelines to serve the narrative we are telling together. I'm a Rule of Cool GM through and through, and if a player finds a creative solution to a problem that isn't necessarily within the rules, we'll work together to make it happen in the fairest way possible!
