About the adventure
Aldageam the Apothecary has an order that was not picked up and needs someone to track down her wayward patrons. It turns out that they’ve gone on a foolhardy monster hunt and now need rescuing from a clutch of psychedelic snails. This four-hour adventure is for brave adventurers looking for a light-hearted romp through a jungle island. There will be social dilemmas! There will be dangerous foes! There will be perilous ruins! First-time players welcome.

How to prepare
You will need a computer, headphones, and a microphone (fine if it’s an integrated mic in your computer or headphones). You will need to create a character (I can help with this if needed) and find character art - something pulled off image search is fine. We will be using Roll20 as a virtual tabletop, and you can use it for rolling dice. If you prefer the click-clack of the shiny math rocks, you are absolutely welcome to roll at home.
What I provide
I'll be providing the Discord server and Roll20 game for this session.
Gameplay details
The first few minutes of our time will be spent with housekeeping: getting characters settled and mics working. Once everyone is ready we'll dive into the adventure with some character introductions and the adventure hook. Then it's off to the jungle for exploration, combat, and puzzle solving. Finally, you'll make it home and reap the rewards of your hard work! How much roleplay will there be? As much as you like. This is a forgiving one-shot and decisions informed by character choices are more fun. But there's only so much of the hero's journey you can get through in 4 hours of D&D. How much combat will there be? This only level 3, so being careful about your resources is something to consider. That being said, it's a one-shot! There are no consequences! It is possible to get through the adventure without a single round of combat. It is also possible to have multiple characters go unconscious. How you play is up to the party. How much puzzling will there be? No need to bring the graph paper. There are opportunities for strategy, but no anagrams. What experience level is necessary? No experience needed! If you are completely new to the platforms or D&D 5e, I'd like to spend some time with you before the official start time of the session to acclimatize you.

How will character creation work
Please make your characters (and pick out character art) beforehand! If you need assistance with this, you can always reach out to me. You are welcome to use Roll20's built in character sheets, dndbeyond.com (useful for first-time folks as their character creation wizard is great), or good 'ole pen and paper. If you use dndbeyond, I recommend installing the beyond20 browser extension so you can roll in Roll20 directly from your character sheet. We'll be doing some finalizing at the beginning of the session (setting up your tokens, getting you some extra spending money and magic items, etc).
Players can expect
- Combat/Tactics: High
- Roleplay: Medium
- Puzzles: Low
- Experience Level: Open to all
