About the adventure

This campaign will be a classic sword-and-sorcery adventure in the rugged lands of the Alderlands! In the aftermath of the defeat of the wicked Iron Legion, bands of goblins and bugbears still roam the countryside, directed by a malevolent force of unknown origin. You will play as adventurers tasked with defeating these threats and uncovering the mysteries of the ancient Crimson Empire. This is a homebrew adventure set in a living world of my own creation, and my goal is to allow the world to grow and change in accordance with player actions. I play my games as the facilitator of epic combat and interesting storytelling, and strive to make sessions as rewarding and engaging as possible. All levels of experience are welcome in this game.

What I provide

I will bring the story, and you can bring yourself.

Gameplay details

This game will go from levels 1-5, with fairly frequent milestone-based leveling. I can be as hands-on or as hands-off with character creation as needed, and I have a ton of experience running games for new players. During a Session Zero, we will discuss the boundaries the group is comfortable with, and I've had a lot of success in the past using the X, N, and O cards and with a few minutes of aftercare post-game. I am also a big fan of the "fade to black" technique for any situation that any player deems uncomfortable. I am also more than willing to adjust anything for player needs.

How will character creation work

I can be as involved in character creation as needed, and intend to touch base with players at a minimum before the first session. If we have a lot of new players, session zero will mostly consist of character building and basic rules discussions. If we have a lot of veterans, I'll be more handsoff, and expect players to come to the table with a level 1 character that answers the question, "Why would the Earl send you on this quest instead of someone else?". I'm not a huge fan of joke characters (while they may seem funny as a concept, a joke does not get funnier the more times you tell it) but other than that, I'm fairly open to any character builds. I'm also open to third-party and homebrew content, as long as I get a chance to review the content in question.
