April showers bring tabletop RPG news! At least that’s how it works around here. In this week’s TTRPG news roundup: Wizards of the Coast “mistakenly” targets a BG3 Stardew Valley mod, Alliance Entertainment steps up to solve the Diamond bankruptcy problem, Itch.io TTRPGs rally for trans rights, and WizKids finally drops the BG3 minis.

WotC Issues DMCA Takedown Of BG3 Stardew Valley Mod, Then Takes It Back

Another day, another instance of fan outcry causing WotC to reverse course on a questionable business decision. This time, the company issued a DMCA takedown notice against a Stardew Valley mod called Baldur’s Village. The hit mod has over 4,000 downloads and adds fan favorite characters like Astarion to players’ Stardew village.

The mod even gained praise from BG3 developer Larian’s CEO, reports EN World, so one can imagine the online backlash when the WotC takedown was discovered. The company was quick to act, however, saying that the takedown was “issued mistakenly” and that it’s now available again.

Alliance Entertainment Buys Diamond Comics

After Diamond Comics Distributors went bankrupt earlier this year, it left some tabletop business up in the air. Diamond owed money to WotC and distributed some products for WizKids. Even the Pokemon Company went after Diamond to get back products given on credit. A buyer has appeared to save the day, however, in the form of Alliance Entertainment. Bleeding Cool reports that Alliance is set to buy Diamond pending court approval, and will finance what Diamond owes via revolving credit.

By buying the bundle for $5, all of your money will go towards these two organizations. In return, you’ll receive 467 indie TTRPGs and supplements. There are also partners like Paizo and Renegade Game Studios who offer bonus PDFs for buyers who fill out a quick form. The bundle is continuing throughout April and aims to raise $25,000.
