New Official DnD Actual Play Show Previews Upcoming Sourcebooks
Wizards of the Coast announced a new D&D Actual Play Anthology series that will preview new upcoming books. It’s called Dungeon Masters, and the first campaign will feature an all-star cast using the setting and character options found in Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. The first story will see the players, under DM Jasmine Bhullar, fight to escape the dread domain of Lord Soth. D&D Beyond users can adventure alongside the show by claiming “Play-Along Packs” that feature preview monsters from the book and scenarios the show DM created. The first episodes of Dungeon Masters drop on April 22.
Daggerheart: Hope & Fear Pre-Orders Live, Cover Revealed

Darrington Press announced the contents of Daggerheart: Hope & Fear, revealed its cover art, and opened pre-orders for its September 22 launch date. There is once again a standard version (with book and cards) and a deluxe boxed edition that contains a variant cover book, cards, dice, a GM screen, adversary sheets, and a fancy box for it all to go in. The book itself will expand Daggerheart by adding four more classes, a new Dread Domain, four Campaign Frames, transformations, ancestries, communities, items, and adversaries/environments.
Paizo To Release Horror TTRPG 13 Omens

Pathfinder and Starfinder publisher Paizo revealed that it is making a horror RPG called 13 Omens. The game will not use the mechanics of the ‘Finders, but instead be its own system created by Jason Bulmahn and Joe Pasini. The website for 13 Omens calls it a “dark reflection of our world; beset by horrifying specters, bloodthirsty killers, cursed places, and secrets best left unknown.” It’s supposed to be rules light and easy to pick up, focusing on creating horror by building tension as a session moves towards conclusion. There’s no release date given, but there is a mailing list to join for more info.
Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG Wins Big On Crowdfunding

Renegade Game Studios put out a BackerKit campaign for the Dungeon Crawler Carl TTRPG and it’s a massive success. As of this writing, the project has achieved over $6 million in funding with 28 days left to go. This puts the ungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game in a small club of multi-million dollar TTRPG crowdfunders, led by the likes of Brandon Sanderson and Nickelodeon’s Avatar. The game itself is a D20-based system that boasts lots of customization via skills, classes, and backgrounds. The crowdfunder contains lots of add-on rewards for merch, dice, and minis plus a whole other deckbuilder game.
Could Dungeon Crawler Carl beat the crowdfunding record set by Stormlight RPG? We’ll have to see how the next month goes! Until then, thanks for reading and may your dice be kind.
Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to a Wizards of the Coast competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
