DnD Video Game Puts You In Charge Of A Tavern
Gamescom 2027 brought the surprise reveal of a new Dungeons & Dragons video game. It’s a business sim/cozy game that gives you a struggling tavern to build up into a proper rest stop. The game is called Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern and comes out in 2027. The trailer shows the player hiring NPCs, sending adventurers on quests to gather ingredients, and placing furniture around the tavern. It looks like a good partner to Warlock, a cozy DnD game to offset the action-focused game.
Dark Sun Co-Creator Brings Spiritual Successor To BackerKit
Timothy Brown, a co-creator of the original Dark Sun, is bringing out another post-apocalyptic DnD setting just in time to rival WotC’s Dark Sun revival. Brown’s setting is called Dragon Kings and features a foreboding land of sand and ruins. There’s psionics, insect people, and a harsh desert wasteland. There’s even art from Brom, a key contributor to the Dark Sun aesthetic. The major differences according to the BackerKit page is that Dragon Kings is more hopeful and system agnostic. There will be conversion rules available to play in DnD 2e.
Sine Merges Last Of Us, Avatar, And Halo Into A Cinematic TTRPG
A new story-driven TTRPG is coming to Kickstarter, and it takes inspiration from an odd yet potentially cohesive set of worlds. Sine presents a doomed Earth taken over by aliens. Players take on the role of genetically engineered super-soldiers tasked with taking the planet back and rebuilding society. According to the press release, it takes cures from Halo, The Last of Us, Nickelodeon’s Avatar, and The 100. The system uses d6 dice and a d20 for luck.
Heroscape Releases Free Dungeon Crawler Mode
Cult classic wargame Heroscape is getting into the dungeon crawler game with a set of free scenarios. Heroscape: Expeditions provides new rules for using the same Heroscape figures, with the goal being to grab treasure instead of obliterating another player’s army. The dungeon maps, rules, and pre-made scenarios can all be downloaded for free on Renegade’s website. According to ICv2, Expeditions content will be updated monthly. The goal for Renegade is to introduce new players through the dungeon crawls and then move them to competitive play.
