It’s been a week since Dungeons & Dragons released its shiny new books, so of course the tabletop giant has dominated the industry news cycle. But that doesn’t mean other creators have stayed silent!

This week in StartPlaying’s TTRPG news, Mork Borg announced a video game, DnD 2024 tripled 2014 sales, WotC posted an intriguing job listing, we got our first look at DnD 2024 adventure styling, and animation studio Titmouse revealed its own TTRPG.

Mork Borg Kickstarting Video Game

A video game adaptation of Mork Borg is set to launch next year. It’s called Mork Bork Heresy Supreme, and promises to bring the metal art style and random dice rolls of the tabletop game to your screen. Players can choose difference classes and make use of light RPG mechanics in side-scrolling action gameplay. A Kickstarter for the game is coming on October 1.

DnD 2024 Is "Fastest Selling" Book For The Franchise

Wizards of the Coast announced that the 2024 Player’s Handbook is the fastest selling Dungeons & Dragons book ever. It sold three times as many copies as the 2014 version and was the biggest print run in all DnD history, reports EN World. Even so, some markets seemed to have major publishing issues. WotC also touted that DnD has 85 million fans worldwide and over 18 million D&D Beyond users.

DnD Seeking New Brand Manager

Now that Greg Tito has officially left his PR career with WotC behind, the company is looking for a new Senior Brand Publicity Manager. The job listing is up on the Hasbro website and asks for at least a Bachelor’s in Communication, PR, Journalism, or other such related field. It also asks for 8+ years of experience with public relations. The employee would be expected to lead day-to-day publicity efforts, plan events, head fan relations, and of course be in charge of social media.

80s DnD Cartoon Characters Star In First 2024 Adventure

D&D Beyond released a free adventure that uses the new 2024 rules. Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn sees the titular unicorn from the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon in trouble. It’s up to the players to save Uni’s horn by taking on the role of the 80s cartoon kids, now grown up and sporting level 4 character sheets.

The free one-shot is notable for being the first official 2024 rules adventure, giving DMs an idea of how 2024 changes monster stats, and previewing official magic items based on the 80’s kids’ gear. For those looking to try the adventure firsthand, StartPlaying GMs have been running preview sessions all month long. Take a look here for an open game.

Titmouse Animation Studio Made A TTRPG

Titmouse, the studio that made The Legend of Vox Machina, is crowdfunding a party TTRPG. It will be named Drunkards, Druggies, & Delinquents and is meant to serve as a wild satire of D&D antics. Players will take on chaotic quests that recommend them get more inebriated as the game goes on. The game will hit BackerKit on October 8.
