Hello and thanks for checking out StartPlaying tabletop RPG news. We bring you the biggest headlines of the week while you wait for your turn in combat.
This week: Dungeons & Dragons gets an official crossover with Vampire: The Masquerade, DnD brings back its Villain Subclasses for another round, 5.5e magic item cards get a release date, and MemoryCore brings PlayStation 1 hits to your TTRPG table.
DnD/Vampire The Masquerade Crossover Officially Coming To D&D Beyond

D&D Beyond announced its slate of partner products for Q3 2026, and Vampire: The Masquerade is on the list. Yes, White Wolf is still making actual VTM content (a new edition, in fact). This D&D Beyond product is from Ghostfire Gaming and adds a Kindred class to DnD 5.5e. The release is titled Bound by Blood and comes out in July, adding a Dark Ages adventure alongside the Vampire class. Other partner products include Frontiers of Eberron, Field Guide to Floral Dragons, and more Legends of Greyhawk.
DnD Villain Subclasses Return For Another Playtest

The Villainous Options Unearthed Arcana returned to D&D Beyond this week, bringing some great response to player feedback. The overall note from DnD Design Director Justice Ramin Arman was that his team saw that players want more communication on the ultimate fate of UA content.
To that end, he went through all the Villainous Options and said which will appear in future books, which still need testing, and which are being shelved. Only the Primordial Patron Warlock ended up on the backburner. The big winner was the Circle of the Titan Druid, which was already popular but still got buffs in the form of more bulk and more damage but a shorter transformation duration.
Official DnD 5.5e Monster, Magic Item, And Spell Cards Up For Pre-Order

As promised in an earlier roadmap, Wizards of the Coast set a release date for 5.5e Reference Cards. Local game stores get early access for an August 4 release, while larger retailers get them on August 18. There are three decks for spells going from levels 0-5. The two magic item decks are split into Common and Uncommon then Rare and Very Rare. The three monster decks go by theme, being Animals & NPCs, Mystical & Menacing, and Fearsome & Ferocious. All of them can be purchased as an Ultimate Bundle on D&D Beyond.
Memory Core Brings PS1 Classics To TTRPG Tables

The next big TTRPG BackerKit project is here to fill up your social media ads: MemoryCore. The theming is on point; its box presents itself as a blocky game console from the 90s complete with each game coming in a clamshell case. You see, MemoryCore is one of those base TTRPG systems that can shift to play in several genres. Each genre is its own game, lovingly recreating classics like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy VII, and Resident Evil. There are six games at launch and guidance on how to make your own. MemoryCore is funding on BackerKit until June 30.
That’s a wrap on this week! Very DnD heavy, with some exciting launches to keep an eye on. Until next week, may your dice be kind.
Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to an official D&D competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
