Fresh off a showing of the Mandalorian & Grogu, here I am with this week’s tabletop RPG news! (Also if you’re hankering for some Star Wars TTRPG action, we got you.)

This week: Hasbro passes on DnD video game pitch from prominent game director, Daggerheart marks its first year with a lot of announcements, Paizo shares more of its horror TTRPG 13 Omens, and Dungeon Crawler Carl joins the multi-million crowdfunding club.

Hasbro Cancels D&D Video Game From Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Dev

A Dungeons & Dragons video game helmed by the Fallen Order director was passed on by Hasbro. As per Bloomberg, Wizards of the Coast is choosing to deny “an early concept” from Giant Skull, a studio helmed by director Stig Asmussen. According to Asmussen, however, relations are still good between the two companies and WotC is considering other pitches from Giant Skull. Hasbro has several other D&D video games in development, including a town builder from Gameloft and the action-adventure game Warlock.

Daggerheart Anniversary Special Promises Content For All Tiers

via Critical Role

Darrington Press celebrated Daggerhearts first anniversary with several announcements for players, GMs, and creators. For players, products were revealed such as a Duality Dice set and holder. Game Masters can now download a free Tier 1 adventure called The Wish Thief, with promises that more free adventures that span all tiers are planned for 2026 and 2027. As for creators, Darrington revealed that content from the upcoming Hope & Fear expansion will be added to the Daggerheart SRD. Finally, another Critical Role miniseries set in the Age of Umbra begins on July 9.

Paizo Horror TTRPG 13 Omens Uses Shared Dice Pool

via Paizo

Paizo revealed some of the mechanics behind its upcoming horror RPG 13 Omens via its mailing list. EN World shared the update, which goes into how dice work. Players use a shared pool of d6 kept in a bag. Some of the dice are safe, whereas others are labelled as Omen dice. The Omen dice are responsible for negative outcomes and more are added to the pool as a session goes on. 13 Omens aims to be a narrative-focused, modern horror game.

Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG Takes On Most-Funded Kickstarters

via Renegade Game Studio

The crowdfunding campaign for the Dungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game hit its end on BackerKit this week, finishing strong at over $13 million. This activated BackerKit’s Overtime mode that allows extra time for late pledges. That final funding tally puts Carl in a list of legends. Literally, as Avatar Legends and Cosmere RPG stand as the top TTRPG earners from crowdfunding. Dungeon Crawler Carl didn’t quite hit the $15 million of Cosmere but still made a very impressive showing. Now the wait begins to actually play the thing.

That’s all for this week! If you’re looking to try Daggerheart's new anniversary adventure, head to our page to book a game with a professional GM! Until next time, may your dice be kind.

Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to an official D&D competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
