Dungeons & Dragons 5e, The Witcher TTRPG | One-Shot

About the adventure

One rainy spring, in the rugged peaks of the Amell Mountains, just below Cervantes Pass, a group of wanderers found themselves gathered in a remote inn. What happened next was not deemed worthy of chroniclers’ attention—it slipped unnoticed between the tales of border skirmishes and the machinations of great political powers. Yet, for those who lived through it, the memory lingers like a thorn that was never pulled. You arrive at an inn nestled near the village of Trocken, a place that seems ordinary at first glance. But something feels… off. The wary gazes of the locals, the hushed whispers behind closed doors, and the uneasy glances exchanged by the innkeepers hint at a secret buried beneath the surface. There’s a heaviness in the air, a palpable tension that makes you question whether you should stay. But exhaustion from your long journey tugs at you, and despite your growing unease, you decide to spend the night under the inn’s roof. As darkness falls, however, you will face the unexpected—a night of mystery, fear, and choices that are anything but simple. Your party will be tested. The path ahead will be shrouded in uncertainty, and every decision could tip the balance of fate. What truths will you uncover? What sacrifices will you make? And when the dawn finally breaks… will you still be the same as when you arrived?

Game style

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare

Please have a working microphone, stable internet connection and head full of ideas. My favorite kind of player is a happy player. That is why the supply of water and a cup of your favorite tea and comfy place to play would be good preparation. Playing with camera on would be appreciated, but is not obligatory.

What I provide

➣ To increase accessibility and fluidity of gameplay, the original mechanics of the Witcher TTRPG system have been replaced with 5e mechanics. All heroes, monsters, and NPCs have been adapted to the requirements of the new mechanics while maintaining the atmosphere and spirit of the Witcher universe. Not like Netflix did ;) ➣ Forge/Foundry VTT with: - custom maps and tokens, - character sheets with pre-generated characters, - ambient music + sound effects ➣ Playing with the camera on helps everyone at the table feel each others emotion and feel the mood of the scene and also being scared by my unhuman facial expressions. ;) ➣ I use a good quality microphone to make sure that everyone would “enjoy” every single meeting with variety of next monsters, lunatics and abominations. ➣ About sticking to the rulebooks… I am a huge fan of my players’ characters and I like following their awesome and creative ways of dealing with the monstrosity of my worlds. As much as I love letting them shine and have their epic moments, I also admire bringing to them hard consequences of living in this particular universe full of cruel and horrible things
