Tableplop

Tableplop

Tableplop is a free, independently developed, browser-based virtual tabletop for roleplaying games. Focusing on simple tools and ease-of-use, Tableplop provides a straightforward VTT experience. A map, tokens, dice rollers, and character and NPC keepers are its bread and butter, with fog of war, drawing, automation and text tools as its advanced features. Tableplop is designed primarily for grid-based, map-and-token style games, and its main supported character sheet is Dungeons & Dragons 5e. Users can create and customize scenes and character sheets for their game of choice, and access a library of free assets for maps, images, banners, and tokens or upload their own. If you want a speedy, simple VTT that gets the job done without any fancy bells and whistles, Tableplop might be for you!

An Introduction to Tableplop

Learn the ins and outs of Tableplop in less than ten minutes! After making an account on the website, you can create a new campaign in the Campaigns menu. Your campaign will have an invite link you can send to players to allow them to join.

Each map, image, or page of Tableplop is a Scene. You can navigate scenes with your mouse and scroll wheel, and click and drag assets like maps and tokens into the scene directly from your computer, then move and resize it as needed. You can also upload files to Tableplop for easy access. If you need a token, Tableplop has an asset library of preexisting tokens you can drag and drop into scenes. Giving them names (or even numbers) will differentiate them. You can add conditions to tokens, hide them, layer them, and track their individual statistics.

For player characters, you can pull in a token and convert it to a character, which gives it a character sheet. Templates for D&D character sheets are available on Tableplop, or you can build a custom sheet. These character tokens will have premade, clickable rolls, but you can make custom rolls in the chat window. If characters enter initiative, you can add the participating tokens to an initiative tracker. Tableplop also has a few handy tools for measurement, fog of war, drawing, and adding text to scenes, and once you've mastered those, you're ready to run with Tableplop!
