About the adventure

Deep in the Mindspin Mountains, a storm giant warlord known as the Storm Tyrant has seized control of a cloud castle and an Orb of Dragonkind, and is gathering an army of giants from across western Avistan—first to bring the orc hordes of Belkzen under his banner, then to conquer the neighboring realms. Heroes defending the human town of Trunau from an orc raid discover that the attack is just a precursor to the Storm Tyrant’s larger plans. Working their way through an abandoned border fort, an ancient giant temple, the tomb of an undead frost giant, and an elite fire giant training facility beneath a dormant volcano, the heroes eventually take the fight to the Storm Tyrant himself inside his flying fortress. Can the giant army be defeated before it can conquer the human lands of the Inner Sea, or will all of Avistan bow down in fealty to the Storm Tyrant? Join us on this epic adventure that takes a group of adventurers from their hometown of Trunau, to the footstep of the Storm Tyrant himself! This campaign runs level 1-12, and should take about a year to complete. After that, the group will have the option to play another adventure that takes them from 12 to 20!

How to prepare

This is a new game and many are new to the system, so there will be a lot of patience all around. We will connect using Foundry VTT, and can check the demo available on their website to ensure compatibility. All dice rolling and character sheets will be provided via the software. For voice chat, we will use Discord. Please ensure you have a quality microphone, and will be in an environment free of background noise for the enjoyment of all. It is recommended that all players read over my gameplay guidelines at https://tinyurl.com/5x7nu93m , and have a basic knowledge of Pathfinder 2e rules.

What I provide

I will provide the Foundry VTT software with all the needed setup. From journals to music to tokens and character sheets, we'll keep track of it all there. Once the game is ready to go, I will provide a URL and password that players will use to connect.

Gameplay details

Giantslayer Using Foundry VTT, Discord. Old School DM Expected length - 3.5-4.0 hour sessions each week running about 12-18 months Must be 18+ years old Salutations! I'm Phil (aka JCServant), specializing in converting PF1e adventure paths for PF2e. This offers players a rare chance to experience these thrilling and imaginative escapades by Paizo the newer system. When you join one of my games, you not only jump into an epic campaign run by a very experienced DM, but you also join a vibrant Discord community that shares a passion for the hobby! We have a vibrant, involved Discord community. When you join one of my campaigns, you join a group of players that's passionate about role-playing and Pathfinder 2nd edition! For this adventure, we'll have numerous exciting optional rules being used in this campaign including free archetypes (though with no class dedications), downtime rules, NPC relationship rules, and my patented Heroic Progression system! Your characters will travel the world with a tight band of both PCs and NPCs as you work together to brave challenges during your travels. The main focus in Giantslayer leans towards combat, with some role-playing and light puzzle-solving. Battles can challenge players, especially if luck swings against the party. Tactics and planning are key. However, RP is important in this adventure as the characters will be traveling with a tight-knit band of caravaneers. We also have a moderate, flexible emphasis on RP during long rests. Players are welcome to talk in character and make some sub-optimal decisions to stay in character and will discover new interactions from it. We use an NPC relationship system, as well as downtime rules, to help give players even more opportunities to explore their character's story. There is a lighter emphasis on puzzle-solving, traps, skill checks, and the like. They show up occasionally but can have a big impact if not attended to. We do try and run things close to the rules, save where it slows things down. We are very friendly to other players new to the system. We have a 20-minute break towards the middle of the game (based on the group). I'm very open to feedback from players, using it to help make future adventures better. I am happy to answer questions and ensure the game is a good fit for all who want to play. Players will want to have a few ideas for a Pathfinder 2e character ready in advance, though the specifics will be decided on in session zero so players can coordinate classes. Specifics will be entered into Foundry during session zero. I'm generally available via Discord - username: JCServant - and Startplaying messaging system to answer questions. For more information, please check out "Phil's Tabletop Guidelines" doc at https://tinyurl.com/5x7nu93m and my campaign guide at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AOJYfYtuE4v_TzLMlUXqIZR8DBM1goN13vEw8BuuVxs/edit?usp=sharing . These guides will give you more details on how I run the game. This is highly recommended for any wishing to join the campaign.

How will character creation work

Any new party members joining will be leveled up to match the party, with some beginning gold to spend on gear, as well as beginning magic items if appropriate. I am available often on Discord to answer questions to facilitate the process. We will then meet together to create the character within Foundry's system to facilitate all dice rolls, HP tracking, etc.
