About the adventure

"I will say his name just this once and only whisper it. The name of this evil one is . . . Rahotep." So says the priest of Thoth, beseeching your aid. Something has awakened within the ancient Necropolis in the Harh-Ahu-Ra Hills. Have you the courage to venture there and rid the land at last of a terrifying evil? Welcome to the Triple Kingdom of Khemit, bold adventurer! Khemit is one of the most ancient of human nations in the Lost Lands, and parallels to a fantastic version of the ancient Egypt in our world. Ruled by Pharaoh, Khemit is a place of mighty magic, many gods, vast treasures, and deadly perils! Those who choose to adventure in Khemit must keep their wits about themselves. This is a difficult and challenging scenario, and it will bring out the best and brightest ideas from those who participate — or leave them to wither away as corpses under the blistering desert sun. This campaign will be starting at level 8, and the characters will finish the Necropolis around level 12 with the opportunity to continue adventuring until level 20. It features delving into an absolutely epic dungeon, solving puzzles and evading difficult traps, and challenging/large scale combat. Having run this campaign twice before, it will last around 25 sessions.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players need a working mic and access to a computer. The game will be held over discord and roll20, so you will need an account on both. Zoom is also an option, but only if all the players want to use it. Players will need to make their character sheet ahead of time in roll20 or dndbeyond. If dndbeyond, they will need to have the chrome extension beyond20.

What I provide

I work hard to provide an immersive online experience for my players. I use music and soundscapes to set the mood. I use imagery for theatre of the mind roleplay, and beautiful maps from various sources for combat and exploration. I am constantly improving my roll20 room with effects and visuals for you all to enjoy. I make sure to give everyone a chance for their character to shine, and play to their strengths and abilities. In my games you can expect challenging combat, great improvisation, and an immersive world to play in. I put player agency and involvement first, and I want to emphasize the fact that this game is a cooperative environment between myself and the players. I run my games RAW, or rules as written. If you have a rules question for me that I haven't come across before or forgotten about, I will pause the game momentarily to look it up and make sure everything is according to the spirit of the rules. I reference Sage Advice/Jeremy Crawford tweets, but have my own opinions as well (such as the interpretation of magic missile, shield master feat, and dispel magic). I do have one homebrew rule, and that is you can drink a potion as a bonus action.

Gameplay details

This campaign features dealing with ancient evils, tomb exploring/raiding, and demons/undead and will have safety tools. There will be no sexual assault, homophobia, or transphobia in my games.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be done before the game. If you can create your character sheet on roll20 that would be the best, but I also accept Dndbeyond sheets that can be linked to roll20. Character creation rules: Point buy (27) Sourcebooks allowed: Dungeon Master's Guide, Player's Handbook, Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, Volo’s Guide to Monsters, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, Monsters of the Multiverse Magic items: Allowed from the sourcebooks above 2 rare 3 uncommon banned items: broom of flying, adamantine armor, mizzium armor, horns of valhalla You will start out with 5000gp and can buy mundane items from the PHB and the following potions and scrolls: Healing- 50gp /// Climbing- 75gp /// Animal Friendship- 100gp /// greater healing- 100gp /// water breathing- 100gp /// superior healing- 500gp /// supreme healing- 1000gp Cantrip- 25gp /// 1st- 75gp /// 2nd- 150gp /// 3rd- 300gp /// 4th- 500gp /// 5th- 1000gp For session 0 we will be going over backstories and how the party ended up traveling to Khemit, as well as doing a practice combat before beginning the adventure. For this campaign, the pcs will also be outsiders to Khemit, as ancient bans forbid natives from entering the Necropolis, or else incur the wrath of their gods.
