Welcome to Strixhaven
On the island of Arcavios in the Western Ocean of Toril lies the renowned college of Strixhaven, where students come to study the island’s offerings.
About the adventure
This campaign will take characters on multiple adventures throughout their time at Strixhaven. The college of Strixhaven is located on the island of Arcavios in the Western Ocean of Toril in the Forgotten Realms, which is the basis of this setting. Over four years at the school, you’ll make friends, study, take exams, and master the duality of your chosen college and possibly others. Will you go on to join the elite Dragonguard, become an esteemed Professor, or return home bringing all you learned back with you to help your community? The campaign will follow each of the four years the player characters are students at Strixhaven. During their first year, they will take general courses and be exposed to many of the possible core college principles. In the second year, the students pick a college to focus on and can take as many as all of their classes or as few as a third of their courses in their chosen college. Beyond year two, into the third and fourth years, more adventures and the expansion of student knowledge will bring about bigger challenges, and students will be better prepared to incorporate magic into their fields of study in the everyday life they will have post-Strixhaven.

About me
I have been a GM consistently for about five years and off and on for a decade. I have been playing DnD since the days of 3.5, and I enjoy making fun sessions. I use Discord and DndBeyond for all my sessions. I am an inclusive GM, and I like to use a mix of RP and combat in my sessions.

Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will happen during session 0. This session will also cover all gameplay, game backstory, and house rules. The starting level will be one, and the campaign should end with characters at level 10. Book info will be provided by the GM through DnDBeyond.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Need a mic, a free DndBeyond account, and a Discord account. A webcam is a bonus, but not necessary. Having a paid DnDBeyond account is also fine, but not needed. Having fun and bringing a voice for your character is encouraged, but not a requirement.
What Bryan Conant brings to the table
I will bring limited voices to some characters. I tend to blend the rules of cool and the rules as written, but will lean on one or the other in some situations. I will attempt to be as descriptive as possible in Theater of the Mind moments and provide maps with DnDBeyond Maps when available.
Homebrew rules
I use modified critical hits. Crit hit damage is double the total damage rolled, then add modifying bonuses. (Example: 1d8 +3 rolled on a crit is 7+3. Damage is 14 +3 modifying damage, for a total of 17 damage.) I like to roll all death-saving throws “behind the screen” to give players a sense of urgency to save their companions. Full points earned with a health potion when used in a full action, rolled for healing if used in a bonus action.
