About the adventure

Welcome to Detroit, circa 1926. A twisted imp, whose skin is a hellish shade of red, appears at midnight on an empty street, but only for an instant. According to Detroit folklore, the creature is an ill omen, a harbinger of catastrophe—and the city is ripe for a fall. The gilded luxury that once made Detroit “little Paris” is beginning to crumble, giving way to something darker beneath its surface. As Detroit’s Camarilla grows complacent, the Sabbat’s grasp on the city has tightened like a noose. The Sabbat is never far from every bloody bootleg battle, gin-soaked speakeasy, and glistening gala, growing bolder with each advance. Can the Camarilla shake off its fugue before it’s too late? Or is Detroit destined to fall? Step into the gritty, blood-soaked streets of Prohibition-era Detroit, and take sides in the war for the soul of the Motor City. But hurry. The hour’s getting late…

About me

Hi! Welcome, stranger and potential friend! I know your time is valuable, so I'll start with The Most Important Thing: I work hard to make my games as safe and inclusive as possible. I've had the experience of being The Only Girl at the Table. In a game featuring vampires and other supernatural creatures, I've been told that I can't play a warrior or a scholar because that's "not realistic." I've had the experience of playing in games where the only female NPCs were barmaids. I've also been queerbaited and/or played in games that only featured same sex relationships as fantasies for the rest of the players or as punchlines. It's my goal to make my games the EXACT OPPOSITE of those experiences by creating an environment where marginalized players can be themselves and see themselves in the games they play. My adventure in the wild world of professional GMing began with a misfortune. I was on the path to being a lifelong academic when I caught Covid during the first wave. I was seriously ill. I spent a great deal of time in bed and a great deal of time recovering. Those long, empty days gave me a lot of time to think about my major life decisions. Ultimately, it was this self-examination that led me here! Needless to say, my fun with TTRPGs began well before my foray into academia. I started playing Vampire the Masquerade when I was only 13 years old! I ran my first VtM game shortly after I became a player. In addition to VtM, I've been both player and storyteller for Werewolf, Changeling, Hunter, and Wraith- with a little D&D and Monster of the Week sprinkled in for good measure. I'm also a lifelong horror fan. When I'm not consuming horror via film, I like to read EC comics and bad horror/pulp novels! I've linked my IG and my Discord, so come hang out with me on the socials!

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0, players will decide on a coterie and character concepts with the assistance of the Storyteller. Players will then build those characters using the Character Creation Guide in the core book. Players joining after Session 0 will be required to submit a concept to the ST before approval.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This game takes place online, so players will need an internet connection, a Discord account, and a Roll20 account. Players will also need a mic; webcams are encouraged, but not required. I also encourage players to familiarize themselves with the character creation rules before Session 0.

What Byrne Baby Byrne brings to the table

My GM Style _________________________________________________________________ As a GM, I lean into the gothic horror elements of Vampire the Masquerade and emphasize the moral ambiguity inherent to the IP. Few, if any, SPCs are straightforward victims or villains. Each SPC is a fleshed-out character, as opposed to an exposition dispenser or plot device, complete with bio, visual reference, and voice. I also emphasize inclusivity and diversity in my cast, so a full range of characters are displayed. What's Included? _________________________________________________________________ Players have access to my World of Darkness library, which includes the core book, Camarilla guide, Sabbat guide, Anarch guide, Cult of the Blood Gods, Trails of Ash and Bones, Players Guide, Blood Sigils, and other minor books.

Safety

How Byrne Baby Byrne creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be established during Session 0 and listed in a VTT document. Players joining after Session 0 will have an opportunity to contribute to the list during their onboarding. Digital safety cards are also enabled on the VTT so players will always have an opportunity to communicate discomfort with any content that arises.
