About the adventure
Tales of Darcellum is a sweeping high-fantasy epic woven with political intrigue, shadowy conspiracies, and mysteries tangled so deep that even the truth has forgotten itself. Your characters—once inseparable childhood friends, now both bound and forced apart by years of buried secrets—find themselves thrust into the heart of a grand design. Perilous obstacles will rise before you, purposefully placed to test your resolve, all while you race against forces seen and unseen to save someone who is more than just a friend—someone who is family. As players, you will guide your characters through trials of fire and deception, navigating a world where every decision could shift the balance of power or spell catastrophe. When the moment of reckoning comes, will you press forward beyond the point of no return, reshaping the fate of nations? Or will you emerge from the chaos, crowned as heroes, having defied destiny itself? This is a Play by Post game, so the entire campaign will be text based and taking place practically throughout the entire week.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare
Players will need a Discord account, first and foremost. Players unfamiliar with Play by Post should do their own research, but understand at joining the campaign: this is a text-based RP. All game aspects will take place through text. Be prepared to write highly detailed accounts of your character actions and even expressions, as your fellow players will not be able to read your face or voice for tone. Players should also be prepared to have some wait time, as you may make a move or comment while another player is busy. (Be prepared for things such as combat or puzzles to take longer to make it through for this reason, someone's turn may come when they cannot take the time to play. But don't fret, there will be other role play channels that are non-cannon where you can still play with other players or myself in character while you wait.) You will all pay at the start of the week (always on a Monday), and that will pay for your entire week, until the next Monday. I also suggest players download the free app "5e Companion App", as it has character creation tools and character sheets of all official content, and large quantities of Unearthed Arcana content too, all for free. After character creation during Session 0, I expect players to be prepared to write me an in depth character background, so I can guarantee your character has a place in the world. Depending on your back story, your character may have contacts or even status in some groups or cities in the world, so feel free to be creative and give detail.
What I provide
I will bring the discord server, the safety tools, and the world lore. I will also enforce each safety tool swiftly and proficiently, as my games and server are a safe space for any and everyone.
Gameplay details
There will be plenty of breaks as this is a Play by Post game. I have a Lines and Veils document I will send to everyone. Open door will take effect as anyone can leave at any time, or message me directly if something is out of hand. Session 0 will take place before the start of the game, where all the previously mentioned safety tools will be reexplained, emphasized, and confirmed. Stars and Wishes will take place at the end of each week, where players will be able to list things they liked about the game and other players (stars), and things they wish might've happened, or at least happened differently (wishes).

How will character creation work
Character creation will happen during Session 0, before any of the game takes place. You will be given lore to the world so you can best fit your character into the world in a way that makes sense to you and the table. There are almost no restrictions to character options, though some options may have to be discussed in private if characters make choices closely related to the story plot. (This does not automatically make the option restricted, it just may need to be discussed to see if you still want to make that choice given the heavier weight your character might hold in the setting.)
