The Wastes of Angeles

Apocalypse World 2e | Campaign

About the adventure

"The end of the world has come and gone. It's just us, now. A group of pathetic dirt bags trapped between the desert and the hubris of those who f*cked up the world in the first place. In this hellhole, there are only a few things left: cars, the struggle to survive, and a bunch of messed up shit that came out when the world went tits up. Demons, blood suckers, all that bull. You want to survive? Don't f*ck with me or my town..." This is an 18+ campaign for Apocalypse World, with elements of Deadlands and Mad Max. Join a group of survivors in a world struggling to recover from the worst disaster in human history. Build a small town, take back the past, and thrive in a hostile world! Experience is not required, as this game can be taught at the table! All you need is a working Discord and mic, and your imagination!

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Morgana was amazing. She put together such a fun story. She made me feel so comfortable.

She runs a great drop-in MotW campaign, have participated twice and had a blast each time. The player group also seems pretty excellent and I like the mix of episodic and a more serialized approach as well.

One of the best GMs I know, I'm glad to be a part of her games. Story-focused and character-driven interactions are the backbone of their sessions, connecting to the core of the players' power fantasies and narrative desires. Whether new to a system or a veteran, they and anyone between are welcome at the table, and each share an equal space on and off the table. I cannot recommend this GM enough if you are looking for something new or something captivating.

Took the story in a pretty unexpected direction, while still letting us play. Was a big session for MOTW, which she handled easily. Good times.

Additional details

How to prepare

The primary requirement is an active Discord account and a working mic. Additional, though optional, considerations would be PDF editors with which to edit character sheets.

What I provide

For all of my games, I run the game following Rule of Cool and Theater of the Mind, with occasional images as applicable. All sessions will be held over Discord so as to facilitate private player channels with me, and to facilitate group notes. As always, I enforce a policy of inclusiveness, which includes NPC's. This campaign features a long-form story arc, so it's encouraged that players stick around for the full experience. Additionally, I encourage new players to give the game a try! All experience levels are welcome!

Gameplay details

Prior to the start of each session, I will have a discussion with the group as a whole, to ascertain key triggers which will be kept in mind and expected to be respected by all players at the table without exception, and to ensure that all players are made aware of the open-door policy. Every session will include a 15-minute break (not included in charged time) to decompress and/or have a bio-break. During the course of the session, as the need arises, any players who encounter a trigger may either speak up per Luxton Technique, or to take a break as needed, per open-door policy.
