90s UFO Conspiracy! Learn to Play Delta Green!
Delta Green | Campaign
About the adventure
September, 1996. In a small Tennessee town, teenager Billy Ray Spivey vanishes for two days without explanation and comes back changed. When he uses unnatural powers to kill two people, conspiracy theorists blame UFOs. Delta Green has other suspicions. A team of agents heads to Groversville to find the truth, but they may become the next victims. Written by John Scott Tynes, Convergence was the first Delta Green scenario ever published. Delta Green’s illegal conspiracy of government agents exploit their positions and connections to cover up lethal incursions from beyond time and space, facing the madness so that no one else must. Convergence has blighted the nightmares of unwitting players since itfi rst appeared in 1992. This edition has been thoroughly edited and updated for Delta Green: The Role-Playing Game and it accompanies Delta Green: That's when Delta Green is called in. You're one of these agents; the one they call when unnatural horrors seep into the world, keeping cosmic evil from claiming human lives and sanity and conspiring to cover it all up, so no one else sees what you've seen or learn the terrible truths you've discovered. This is the horror that started it all. Prepare your briefing. Gather your players. Give them our best wishes. None of you will ever be the same. I am your handler. My job is to guide you through this mission filled with issues of national security, shadowy organizations, clandestine missions and moral ambiguity. My priorities are stop the incursion. Minimize exposure. Save lives. Cover it up to save others from being exposed, never, ever reveal the existence of Delta Green.

I am brand new to werewolf, and James was a wonderful first step into this world even as i was a last minut player but the character that was made was immediately involved in the game. He is kind, Very helpful, and a wonderful storyteller that knows how to bring life into both the game and his players.
I am brand new to werewolf, and James was a wonderful first step into this world. He is kind, Very helpful, and a wonderful storyteller that knows how to bring life into both the game and his players. my time with him has been short has some of the best time at a ttrpg table i have had.
I feel that playing with James may have set my standards a bit too high for others when it comes to the storytelling and depth of characters in a setting. From our first conversations together he helped me not only incorporate the character that I wanted to play into the world, but also encouraged me to think deeper about who I would be playing as, and flesh out details I otherwise wouldn't have thought about. His world is story rich, and our group chats after a session finishes are usually full of insight on npc thoughts or other "behind the scenes" discussions that really help me to appreciate the amount of care that James puts into his games.

How to prepare
The majority of investigation scenes will occur within theater of the mind, giving ample time for your characters to get a sense for the tone of the campaign. Basic knowledge of Delta Green's mechanics would be preferred but not necessary, it is a simple rules system that is easy to learn. Equipment-wise players are expected to bring a desktop computer or laptop with a stable internet connection and a working microphone. Voice chat and the majority of text messages will be done through a discord server. I will provide the invitation link to the server after players sign up for the game. It is preferred that players have a noise-free environment or set "push to talk" when there is much background noise. Players will need an account for The Forge VTT in addition to a personal computer that can meet the requirements to run the software. Because of the more investigative and dialogue-heavy nature of Delta Green, I recommend that players take notes. This, however, is by no means required. Players are not expected to bring rulebooks to sessions, but they can be useful for clarifying or looking up certain rules during a break. The edition we are using for this game is Delta Green's independent rule system released in 2016 by Arc Dream Publishing. Players will only need the Agent's Handbook in order to make characters. Basic knowledge of Delta Green's mechanics would be preferred but not necessary, it is a simple rules system that is easy to learn. For those interested in the specific rulebooks, all that an agent requires is the Agent's Handbook which can be purchased on your choice of Amazon, Drive Thru RPG or Arc Dream Publishing's website.
What I provide
Hello, my name is James. I have been game mastering role-playing games for almost five years now and Handling Delta Green for the last two years. I am confident in the talents and knowledge that I have gained from my years of hands-on tabletop experience. I appreciate the investigative, horror, and conspiracy elements that the Delta Green system offers. This game does require a lot of front-end preparation on the part of the Handler in order to run smoothly. Higher quality presentation includes: VTT maps, handouts, journal entries, and other visual aids. I host this game with Foundry VTT and will have all rules prepared ahead of time for quick access. I will also create token images for all characters. I have a love for detailed living settings, character-focused roleplaying, and episodic-style storytelling. With that being said, above all else the three most important traits that I provide to any table are my honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Because you are hiring me to be your Handler, I consider it my obligation to make sure that you are having a good time. This is a contract and you are my clients. For those players who are dissatisfied with my services for any reason, I offer a full refund. If you have any other questions about any aspect of this advertisement, feel free to send me a private message over Startplaying.com. I will reply as soon as I see the email notification.
Gameplay details
Players should expect at the very least one or two 5-10 minute bio-breaks during the session. Right before these breaks, I always ask if people are having fun with the session and for some aftercare/feedback to implement into the next half/third of that particular gaming session. Mental health is a sensitive subject and I intend to portray it with a level of respect and complexity while attempting to be faithful to game designer's intention. It is for this reason I only require sanity rolls from agents when the narrative involves them encountering the supernatural with their senses (witnessing the effects of hyper-geometry, seeing/hearing a creature, or reading something so horrible it tests your grasp to reality). Fair warning, Delta Green is a bit darker in this respect and with the mechanic of bonds your Agent slowly looses contact with their loved ones as they spiral down into madness. While character death is always a possibility given the how nihilistic the setting is and how gritty the rules are for Delta Green, I prefer that a player's death always be somewhat meaningful within the context of the story. This is not to say that you cannot die from falling from a very high place if the player fully understood that risk. I, however, always prefer a more cinematic character death i.e confronting the head cultist or being ripped to shreds by a shambling horror after providing cover for their friends to escape. Players interested in this game should expect heavy in-character dialogue, investigation, and on occasion fast and deadly combat. After each session ends, I set aside some time to do stars/wishes and get feedback from all the players, this is an open form and my hope is to offer even timid players a chance to voice their concerns to me in a inclusive and safe forum. During aftercare/stars and wishes it is my job as the Handler not speak and simply listen to you.

How will character creation work
Before anything can be done in this scenario, agents must be created by the players. All characters will be created together during session zero over Foundry VTT and Discord. Upon confirmation of a player joining the instant-invite for this Startplaying game, I will send you a link to my discord and then from there will schedule a free 1-2 hour meeting that conforms best to your allotted availability before session zero. A list of recommended occupations will be provided before hand but a player can decide on an alternative or custom one based upon their preferred concept. Because balancing skills is so important after creation I will be looking over each of your skill lists to minimize overlap and to make sure that all the bases are covered. Agent creation in Delta Green does not require much time and so I find that having a session zero allows for me to touch base with that player and make sure that they will be a good fit for this game. Your time, money, and enjoyment are all paramount to me and my continued employment as a professional game master on this site.
