About KEY

I have over 6 years of experience GM-ing, across multiple systems. I got into the tabletop world via D&D, and since then I've honed my craft as much as a can with systems like Blades In The Dark, CAIN, Vampire: The Masquerade, and more. I tend to go for more story driven games, where other themes like combat and exploration are used to add depth. Two of the things I value most in a game is freedom and the a good player backstory, one that I can interweave into the world itself.

I became a GM because I loved storytelling with other people.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Creative, Detailed, Imaginative

When I'm not running games I'm either writing, drawing, or listening to music.

How KEY runs games

I love role-play the most, and specifically enjoy story moments that interweave the plot of the campaign itself with the backstory of the characters. I also enjoy running combats, though only if they're actually meaningful and have impact. While those are what I enjoy the most, I tend to alter how I run the game based on what the players like and how their characters are. If the players are all built for combat or exploration, I'm not going to trap them in hours and hours of role-play where they can't use any of their abilities. Most of all, though, I enjoy creativity, and am willing to bend the rules a smidge if the outcome will be more interesting.

I once ran a session that went on for 10 hours because one of my players decided to propose to a princess.

I usually prep by looking at my notes from the last session and thinking of where to go next. I decide what exactly I want the players to gain this session, and then create a beat sheet of moments I want to happen, things from the players' backstories that could be tied in, and npc details.

My games generally focus on plot, weaving character backstory with overarching story.

KEY's ideal table

My table is pretty chill, making sure that all the players are comfortable at the table and have the freedom to try things out.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player blindsides me. As a GM I love having to think around a character, instead of just being able to do whatever I want and have it not matter.

I think it's a red flag when players...

I think it's a red flag when a player feels the need to be included in every scene, always have the coolest aesthetic, or only speak in vague lines. I consider these games collaborative, so someone with main character syndrome is a red flag for me.

My table is not the place for...

My table is not the place for racism, sexism, or homophobia. While there may be similar themes in-game(only if all the players agree to it), overt bigotry or hate-speech towards me or a player is not allowed, will get you kicked out.
