About the adventure

The People of the Skies survive, tested by an unimaginable apocalypse, struggling daily against ravenous beasts, sky pirates, and the effects of the inescapable voidglow! But the fate of the Skies is in danger! The magic of the glow is not the only taint in this unforgivable realm. Dark forces conspire to bring the Skies to the brink of an even greater catastrophe. Can you survive long enough to discover the secrets of the Sundered Skies? This adventure combines the genres of steampunk, horror, high fantasy, and post-apocalypse into a sprawling sandbox campaign. The main story will have the main characters voyage throughout the Skies in the skyship, facing horrific monsters, uncovering clues to the true nature of the Skies and the maddening Voidglow, and hopefully saving the people, the skylands, and the gods themselves from a slumbering terror. But the Sundered Skies are full of adventure, unrelated to the main story if the player characters choose to follow a different path. The power and flexibility of the Savage Worlds system allows for a fun, gripping experience no matter where the PCs turn. If you're unfamiliar with Savage Worlds, don't worry! It is one of the easiest games to learn how to play. I will be adapting this adventure to the most recent version of the Savage Worlds RPG system: Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE). Regardless of the version, Savage Worlds prioritizes fast, furious fun, simple mechanics, and highly adaptable storytelling.

How to prepare

Players will need a decent, directional microphone and headphones. I am on the autism spectrum and an overabundance of background noise, feedback, or digital echoes can be very difficult for me to deal with. That said, if you play in a quiet place and wear headphones, an open mic like a speakerphone can work. There's no need to try to learn the rules to the game ahead of time. Though this world features familiar playable races such as elves and dwarves, there are enough unfamiliar tweaks to them that it might be hard to bring a fully fleshed-out character concept to the first session and see it reflected on your character sheet. Having a loose idea of the kind of character or party role you would enjoy playing would no go amiss, however.

What I provide

I will be running the game, doing character voices, and teaching anyone who needs it how to play this fun and simple game.

Gameplay details

Players can expect plenty of moments for character interaction and role play opportunities, fast-paced combat encounters, steady and regular character progression, and perilous fights which the players should really think twice about before committing to a fight-to-the-death. I do not delight in the suffering of my players, but if my players don't mind the suffering of their characters, we'll get along juuuuust fine :D But let's be real, there will be plenty of times you will completely thrash a boss I figured should have mopped the floor with your characters. I fully expect that some of the players in this game will be completely new to, or rather unfamiliar with this role playing system. With that in mind, I will happily take the time to make sure everyone is up to speed and understands what is going on game-mechanics-wise and with story elements. I trust more experienced players will kindly oblige.
