About the adventure

You are a hero from the magical Free State of Lazlo, built on the ruins of a future Toronto. Rifts to other worlds have opened on Earth, unleashing monsters and magic. Your job? Save the world, one community at a time. Help the community of Garnet Town as they deal with kidnappings by cybernetic demons. Guide the town to decide their fate as they court the advances of both a nefarious magical kingdom and a human supremacist empire. Will they join one of these factions or try to remain independent? It's up to you! This will be a short campaign, about 6-8 sessions, with the possibility of expanding into a long-form campaign lasting a year or more if all players are enjoying themselves. My games are inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly. New to Savage Rifts? This is a fast-paced, cinematic action, post-apocalyptic RPG where dragons, dwarves, and elves have returned to Earth, demons roam, and magic is as common as cyborgs and robots. Some characters you might play: -A super soldier enhanced by chemicals or cybernetics. -A spellcaster able to tap into the power of ley lines and rifts. -A psychic able to control minds, manipulate fire, or conjure psionic weapons. -A pilot of advanced powered armor or a giant mech. -And much, much more!

Game style

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Party notes

There are 12 pregenerated characters or build your own. Pregens are of the following types: Cyber-Knight (psychic cybernetic warrior) Glitter Boy (mech pilot) Juicer (chemically augmented warrior) Ley Line Walker (super spellcaster) Mind Melter (super psychic) City Rat (cyberpunk thief) Wilderness Scout (mutant dog ranger) Burster (psychic pyrokinetic) Combat Cyborg (what it sounds like) Crazy (brain-implant-fueled raging warrior) Mystic (holy psychic & spellcaster) Operator (tech & repair genius)

How to prepare

You will need a Discord account (for voice chat), a Roll20 account (for virtual table top), and the Discord app on your mobile device as a backup in case you lose access in your web browser. Discord and Roll20 are run within a desktop or laptop web browser (Chrome or Firefox are recommended).

What I provide

Fully-voiced characters! I do my best to fully voice all of my characters and often give them accents to distinguish them from each other. Ambient music! Music is played through Roll20, but you can adjust the volume within Roll20 to your preferred level (even 0). Cinematic action! Quick resolution of straightforward encounters using the Savage Worlds Quick Encounters rules. Tactical combat! For more deadly encounters I use a tactical battle map on Roll20 with dynamic lighting. Teach as we play! If you are unfamiliar with the system, I will provide instruction and advice to help your character look like the hero of your imagination. Full access to the Roll20 compendium! Look up key rules, powers, and equipment from all Savage Rifts books available on Roll20. Rules-As-Written! Straightforward interpretations, fair judgments, and an open-door policy on rules questions.

Gameplay details

We will go over a Bob World Builder's Ultimate Session 0 checklist at the beginning to discuss hard and soft limits (lines and veils), as well as expectations for PVP, punctuality, attendance, and immersion. I have X N and O safety cards you can quickly click and place on the digital tabletop. We will have aftercare to talk through the events of the game session afterwards.

How will character creation work

WHEN: Before the game, pick one of 12 pre-generated characters (available on Roll20) or build your own character. NOTE: Building your own character can take an hour or more if you haven't played before. If you would like help, you may book a character creation session with me at the same rate ($15), and I will walk you through the process from start to finish. STATS: Pick a pre-gen or follow the Character Creation Summary on page 14 in the Savage Rifts Tomorrow Legion Player's Guide Adventurer Edition. This system uses points which are allocated as you desire. RANK: similar to level in other RPGs, characters start at Novice (0) rank. This is very similar to a super-hero game though, so starting characters are very powerful! WHERE: build characters on Roll20. BOOKS: Savage Worlds Adventurer Edition and Savage Rifts Tomorrow Legion Player's Guide Adventurer Edition. Make sure your book says Adventurer Edition on the cover!
