About the adventure

Lost Mines of Phandelver, the adventure included in the Dungeons & Dragons 5E Starter Set, is intended for a group of around four to five players. The scenario’s events and challenges are designed to take characters to level five by the end of the storyline. Based in and around the town of Phandalin, Lost Mines of Phandelver is a module for the fantasy tabletop RPG that sees players attempting to rescue two friends from a band of goblin kidnappers who are ambushing innocent civilians along the main road. Their quest will eventually take them into the town itself as the party is accosted by all manner of villainous individuals, from a gang of vicious criminals to a mysterious figure who seems to be the mastermind behind the whole diabolical plot. This game is meant for brand new players to 5th edition D&D or to players who have never played a tabletop roleplaying game. I have ran games for hundreds of new players and I enjoy taking the time to make sure that everyone understands what's going on so that no one feels left behind and ends up having a bad time. My playstyle is very much determined by what my players need. For first time players, I can provide character creation help, and teach you the fundamentals of the game as we progress through this campaign. I have a number of tools available for online play depending on what each group is comfortable with including: Owlbear Rodeo Virtual Tabletop, Roll20 Virtual Tabletop, Discord voice/video, Zoom voice/video, and a number of collaborative google tools to help share information and items to help flesh out the world that the campaign take you through.

How to prepare

I will send a welcome email with some background information for the campaign, pregen characters, access to my campaign and materials on D&D Beyond. I highly encourage everyone to read as much as they can ahead of time, but understand that it can be overwhelming for new players, so the minimum requirement is to read the background information I send.

What I provide

I'll bring all the virtual materials, a link to my D&D Beyond campaign so that you can utilize my books to create characters if you like, and I can also do costumes, props on stream, music, etc.

Gameplay details

The three pillars of D&D play are Combat, Roleplay, and Exploration. This campaign is pretty versatile and can be either combat heavy or roleplay heavy, but exploration is a pillar that will remain constant for all groups. If a group wants to try to do heavy roleplay and talk in character, I can do some voices for NPCs and can help guide you if you're unaccustomed to this style of play. Similarly for combat, if that's more your thing, I can break out the VTT and we can strategize how to do combat or we can play it loose and tend more towards theater of the mind where it's more important to be able to tell me clearly what you want to try to do, focusing more on creativity than the minutiae of combat rules. This game is meant for brand new players to 5th edition D&D or to players who have never played a tabletop roleplaying game. How will character creation work

Characters will start at level one, the first session will either begin with character creation, or we can do a session 0 specifically for character creation and to answer questions before we begin. Pregen characters will be available.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
