About the adventure
Your patron, Lord Tyranax Calyops, a powerful figure in the political scene (and the underworld) of the city, would like you to find your way inside an abandoned temple of the mostly-defunct Church of Iron and retrieve an item of some importance to a "project" he's working on. Mind you, there may be those who want to thwart Tyranax' plans. But, really, that shouldn't be a problem for adventurers such as yourselves, right? Laughter of the Barber is a D&D 5E adventure for 3-6 3rd-5th level characters in the city of Kingsmark in the World of Covenant (learn more on WorldAnvil at https://www.worldanvil.com/w/covenant-sharkspurr ) and can stand alone or be part of the Shattered Adventure Path. Let's rob a temple!

How to prepare
While we're in the world of online gaming, you'll need at least a connection to the internet, a microphone, and (optionally) a webcam, as well as free accounts with DnD Beyond, Discord, Zoom, and Roll20. You don't need to know any of the rules (but it certainly helps), though we may need to chat about your character a bit on the Discord server before we play. Also, if you'd like me to use a custom picture for your character's token in Roll20, shoot that to me (via Discord) as much time before the game as possible (SEE Prep Materials for access to the Monroe Street Adventurers' Guild Discord server, the Roll20 game, and more!) Beyond that? Let's have some fun.
What I provide
Give me a picture that represents your character and I'll whip up a token for them, or you can do that if you like at http://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/ The Discord server also has a place where you can interact in character or write a journal entry, if you like (certainly not required).
Gameplay details
Laughter of the Barber has a mix of combat, non-combat, and roleplaying situations, with more than a smattering of potential horror thrown in. D&D 5E itself is a system that leans heavily toward tactically- oriented combat. And be prepared for some exploration, too, as you delve into the old Temple of Iron. This adventure may contain material not suitable for all players; discretion is advised. I tend to keep it pretty PG-13 to soft R, but we will also be using gaming Safety Tools such as Lines, Veils, and the use of the X-Card to make sure that everyone will be comfortable during gameplay, all of which will be discussed at the beginning of the session. My table is a place of entertainment and enjoyment. As such, there's no place at it for racism, sexism, ageism, bigotry, intolerance, or gatekeeping. Sometimes some of those themes may be explored in the game itself, but if so there will be warnings of that as much ahead of time as possible and we'll discuss how to approach these delicate topics. Out of character, however, these are behaviors that I will not tolerate from my players. CW for this adventure: fantasy violence, creepy situations, mind tricks

How will character creation work
We'll use DnD Beyond to create 3rd-level characters using the Standard Array of ability stats, normal starting equipment, and 200 gp of fun money, and then we'll connect that character to the adventure on Beyond and Roll20. Don't worry, I'll help out if you don't know what any of that means. If you have characters that you've used in any of my other 5E games, you're welcome to use those in Laughter of the Barber as long as they are levels 3-5 (we may have to tweak your backstories a bit, though).
