Fallout RPG is the brainchild of Modiphius Entertainment. Fallout as a franchise is hugely popular right now. As fans anxiously wait for the next season of the Amazon Prime Fallout Series and Bethesda Softworks next game Fallout 5 they can play and relive favorite moments on TTRPG (tabletop role playing game). Fallout RPG features the 2D20 system and takes place in the wastelands of post-atomic United States. If you’re ready to leave your vault and enter the wastelands here is an easy guide to find a game.
5. Discord: Modiphius

Modiphius runs a fantastic discord. It is extremely busy and there are channels that feature each of their games. Each of those games gets their own Looking For Group channels. This simplifies the process for people looking for a game. The postings can be simple or more robust allowing more frequent postings. Modiphius loves their games and their players. Even if you find a game from one of the earlier suggestions I highly recommend the Discord for questions on gameplay and build ideas.
4. Alchemy

Alchemy is a new TTRPG marketplace and all in one VTT. It’s designed for theater of the mind experiences rather than tactical grid experiences. Abstract maps and artwork used to inspire the visuals work great here. Fallout RPG uses zones as a way to measure distance and abstract maps are useful for this without needing tokens. Alchemy boasts a Live Game feed to which players and GMs can connect. No other VTT site does it this way, but it is a very neat feature. Of note, the games are not static so they have to be running for you to find them.
3. Demiplane

Demiplane is a character builder and content marketplace. Recently acquired by Roll20. At the time of this writing they remain separate. Fallout joins some Paizo games and Darrington Press’s Critical Role games. Demiplane’s beautiful character sheets and ease of use make this a go to destination for TTRPG’s that want the D&D Beyond experience but are not Wizard of the Coast products. The forums are active and useful with lots of Looking for Group Postings.
2. Roll20

Roll20 is a long running VTT with a lot of great experiences for players of both D&D and non D&D TTRPG play. It’s robust tools and ability to customize through API (code to increase game automation) make it a solid choice for Fallout. The forums on Roll20 are a great choice for looking for groups but they also have a game finder. This tool is unwieldy for GMs and is underused, but can be useful. At the time of this writing there were games in the game finder. The forums are the best bet; here you will find a selection of games for paid and free Fallout games.
1. StartPlaying Games

StartPlaying Games basically functions as a tool to match GMs to players and players to GM’s. Games are free and paid and there is a lot of variety. A lot of GM’s currently running Fallout games are using Fallout RPG as well Fallout inspired games utilizing other systems. This creates a ton of variety. Additionally the games feature varied levels of experience from learn to play to experienced adventurer. With a ton of online tools including Foundry VTT (Virtual Tabletop), Alchemy, Roll20, and Demiplane GM’s on StartPlaying further feature more varied options for players. This is easily the best and fastest way to get in a game.
Honorable Mentions
I will forever be speaking about RPG.net and EN World as a place to get more information about any game. The people in those forums are always knowledgeable and helpful. I also wanted to include Reddit and the subreddit for Fallout RPG (r/fallout2d20) as it’s a good resource, but they recommend the more general r/lfg subreddit and do not allow postings for people looking for games.
In conclusion, finding a Fallout RPG game should be easy in general. StartPlaying Games has the most solid searchability and likelihood of getting into a game. Fallout RPG is super fun and really does a good job of nailing their post-atomic roots. It feels familiar which is a strong indication that it nails the themes in the video games and the show.
