We return with another bunch of tabletop RPG news! Things were pretty quiet this week, which gives us a chance to look forward to future releases.

This week: WizKids announced two dragon-themed collectibles for 2026, content creators shared early breakdowns of the Heroes of the Borderlands Starter Set, Stranger Things Dice Cups got revealed, and a Reddit detective caught key details about Critical Role’s new cast of characters.

WizKids Amethyst Dragon Miniature Due Out In June 2026

WizKids announced that it’s bringing another Gem Dragon to our tables straight from Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons. The Adult Amethyst Dragon mini will be oversized like other 2014 edition dragons that WizKids has released. This goes against the recent trend with Monster Manual 2025 minis that emphasize accurate scale and vibrant colors. The prepainted version will cost $99.99 and the unpainted version will cost $79.99.

The 2025 Red Dragon also gets some love in the form of a new plaque. The collectible resembles a Red Dragon head that you’d hang on your wall after a hunt, and will be 12-inches tall while weighing seven pounds, according to EN World. There’s no price given, but the plaque is set for a February 2026 release.

DnD Heroes Of The Borderlands Early Reviews

Influencers and press are sharing their impressions of the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set. Most are impressed with the physical contents of the set, noting that it pushes the product more in the direction of a board game than a TTRPG. Commenters who read/watch these reviews call out the number of poster maps as a reason to buy on their own. Those who review note the more sandboxy nature of the Borderlands setting. Christian Hoffer wonders if this fits with the modern DnD player's desire for larger narratives and personalized plotlines.

One Fan May Have Pieced Together the Critical Role Campaign 4 Character Classes

A trailer for Critical Role Campaign Four showed brief glimpses of the players’ character sheets, but that could have been enough for Redditor A_Bold_Faced_Lie to figure out their classes. An article on Wargamer summarizes what the Redditor deduced.

There’s some compelling detective work here, with A_Bold_Faced_Lie looking at the length of Weapon and Armor proficiency sections which are particularly telling on D&D Beyond. According to their guesses, Laura Bailey is an Orc Rogue, Robbie Daymond is a Ranger, Aabria Iyengar is a Druid, Taliesin Jaffe is a Warlock, Marisha Ray is a Wizard, Sam Riegel is a Sorcerer, Liam O'Brien is a Bard, Matt Mercer is a Fighter, and Travis Willingham could share Cleric/Paladin duties with Luis Carazo.

Stranger Things Dice Cups Releasing In Time For Final Season

via ICv2

A Stranger Things set of dice and matching cups is on the way from Sirius Dice. They’re the next wave in a new style of blind box collectibles Sirius had been doing for DnD. The first set had creatures like Mimics and Dragons on the shot glass-sized cups along with dice that match the color scheme. The Stranger Things Mini Dice Cups feature designs like the Demogorgon and the Hellfire Club logo, according to ICv2. No release date or price was given yet, but expect them to release in the coming months to line up with Halloween and tranger Things Season 5

That’s it for this week! As always, thanks for reading and may your dice be kind.

Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to a Wizards of the Coast competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
