The week is over, so it’s time to chill, grab a drink, and see what made TTRPG headlines this week. And if you’ve got no plans, maybe try a new game with a StartPlaying Pro GM!
In this week’s stories: Dungeons & Dragons got four new subclasses in a UA, Paizo announced two new sourcebooks for Pathfinder, and Universal Studios promises the return of its huge Xanathar puppet.
DnD Mystic Subclasses Arrive For Playtest
D&D Beyond posted a Mystic Subclasses Unearthed Arcana that brings four new options to players. Despite what the name implies, the subclasses are for martial classes. There’s a Warrior of the Mystic Arts Monk that gives Monks spellcasting and lets them mix it in with their many attacks. The Oath of the Spellguard Paladin is the anti-mage build that guards allies against spells and magic damage. The Magic Stealer Rouge can absorb enemy spells to gain new options for Sneak Attack. Finally, the Vestige Patron Warlock carries around their patron as a sort of familiar that gains power as you go.
Pathfinder Announces Its 2026 Rulebooks, Plus A 2026 Beginner Box

Paizo revealed what new character options are on the way to Pathfinder 2e this year. The first will be Impossible Magic, which promises to add over 240 spells to the game. It will also deliver four new Pathfinder classes: Magus, Necromancer, Runesmith, and Summoner. Impossible Magic will release during GenCon, reports EN World. The other book, Hellfire Crisis: High Seas, is due out in July. It will mostly be a lore book for sea-themed campaigns, but is also said to contain player options.
A new Pathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star was announced for May 6. It will be complete with introductory books for players and GMs, premade characters, maps, dice, and cardboard pawns.
Universal Fan Fest Nights 2026 To Feature "New Enhancements" To DnD Experience

Universal Studios released ticket sales and details for the return of its Fan Fest Nights event. The event allows visitors to get exclusive access to the theme parks at night plus special events based on popular anime, games, and movies. Both the Hollywood and Florida parks confirmed a second run of Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep, an immersive maze sort of attraction featuring a giant Xanathar puppet. According to EN World, the announcement refers to a “few new enhancements” to the DnD experience even if the general layout will be the same.
That brings this week’s stories to an end! Thanks for reading, and may your dice be kind.
Sergio Solórzano is the best Dungeon Master in the USA (according to a Wizards of the Coast competition, anyway). He loves minis and terrain but also goes all-in on improv!
