About the adventure

A Homebrew low fantasy hack of D&D 5th Edition, in the world of Shattered Winds the party aren't heroes and legends, they are survivors and explorers, journeymen and priests, travelers and guides. In this broken world devoid of magic you must take the reigns of destiny and battle to ensure the survival of your settlement. In Shattered Winds you will play a custom designed iteration of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, where danger is far more present and the aspects of injury, survival, and damage are far more perilous. You play as normal mortals who face a terrifying world of mutated long isolated monsters and broken feral cultures in a world that wasn't meant to survive its calamity. This game will focus on travel and interpersonal party agency, where each choice requires risk for any chance of reward. We will use customized rules that provide more reactionary elements in combat and travel encounters to fend off foes and the elements. From luring monsters and beasts in traps to gather supplies and navigating the harsh wilds to explore the ever growing horizon. Shattered Winds takes inspiration from games like Kingdom Death, Fallout, and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You will travel an untamed and unfriendly world that sits within the husk of an ancient magical society that squandered their gifts and destroyed their gods. Now this hollow world has has the uprising of mortal-kind.

Ari is a great dungeon master. I played a one shot with him today. It had memorable moments that I will share with my friends. And best of all we defeated a demon with the power of friendship. I strongly recommend joining one of Ari's games if able. Thank you again. ♡

I’m a lowkey hater (in the general case), and so jumping in to a custom built world~ on a digital platform~ with custom classes and more…I easily could’ve dropped out. Ari really took time to meet me at every juncture and has helped hold my hand as I figure things out while allowing me to explore potentially world breaking themes and narratives. I really appreciated all the consent-based info for each adventure so I know I’m in an inclusive space. Ari expertly navigates moving through the game, managing my unruly friends at the table, and silly fun.

Ari was an amazing DM. I had a great one shot experience with him. He does amazing voices and makes the game quite fun. Very theater of the mind with combat maps as well. Great game, totally recommend you make him your DM. Had another couple of games with Ari. Great gaming! I'm now in a WARCRAFT campaign with Ari and it is quite enjoyable. Tough dynamic combats. I trampled an enemy with a cart and two horses! Great game.

Very quick with his knowledge and his map/character edits in roll 20. Very impressive and is great at including everyone in the story, action, and role play.

Character creation
Creating your character

We will create characters together on Roll20 during our free session zero. During this session we will roll for stats using a fair and equal method that will generate a slightly lower than normal array. This will be counter balanced by special Settlement Job Roles. This game uses custom iterations of familiar D&D classes like Fighter & Rogue, we will go over character building in session zero!

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Once booked players will be provided a link to the Player Document covering the initial plot hook, augmented game rules, and detailed rules for character creation.

What Ari brings to the table

I provide a roll20 pro account, a boosted discord server, and custom designed maps using Inkarnate Pro. I also provide links to browser extension "Beyond20" to link and DNDBeyond character sheets to Roll20. I am a fun and player first GM who enjoys a balance of strong player driven narrative as well as intense tactical combat. I provide nearly 20 years of experience in story telling, performance, and game design to create an engaging and malleable game that can fit a number of player styles. From "rule of cool" to number crunching and min maxing I am happy to accommodate a number of player styles in a single party. My expectations are simple, be kind, be compassionate, be ready to have fun, and dedicate focus on the game time we've all set together.

How Ari creates a safe table

I provide a Google Forms document that covers a series of topics, from consent, no goes, phobias, interests, experience, and hopes for the campaign. I have an open door policy with all players to express needs, desires, or dislikes from the campaign. Priority number one is a comfortable table. This game will be also using an augmented ruleset of D&D 5e that will requires players attention to navigate the changed rules.
