How to prepare

Players are expected to have the following: - A Discord account with access to my discord server (free) - A D&DBeyond account with their character created before the scheduled session (free) - A working computer with internet access - A Microphone and / or headset with push-to-talk enabled (preferred) or a quiet environment

SESSION 0 INFORMATION ------------------------------------------- My Session 0 information can be found in my Code of Conduct document. Please be sure you read this before your first session of play. I'm also happy to send this to folks via direct message over Startplaying.games! This includes my list of Safety Tools, what I define as acceptable and unacceptable behavior, and what you can expect from me. ------------------------------------------- PLAYING THE GAME ------------------------------------------- I use the following applications and services for all of my games - Foundry Virtual TableTop (Foundry VTT), a no-cost service for hosting our maps, character tokens and sheets, and other assets. My Foundry VTT service is hosted on a private server using The Forge, an additional server system for Foundry. - DScryb sounds will be used for music, sound effects, and ambience. This is a free, browser-based music player. - Discord for voice chat during game time, and correspondence, scheduling, reminders, and general chatting out of game time. - D&DBeyond for guided character creation

How will character creation work

My players enjoy a suite of character options available on D&DBeyond. Character creation happens at your discretion, before our scheduled session 0. Characters for Session I should be level 3. Starting gold value should be 4 x background gold (So a Noble background that starts with 25 GP would start with 100 GP). Starting Equipment should be standard starting equipment. Standard rolling for stats. Everything found within Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Mortenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, and the Player's handbook is pre-approved for play. I'm also open to character options beyond these sourcebooks as well, so long as you check in with me to let me know what you have in mind first! ---- Below is covered in Session 0 or by messaging me directly ---- For character backstories, players must make a decision - Either choosing to come from realms and worlds outside of Barovia (including Eberron, Forgotten Realms, and more (excluding Krynn/Dragonlance)), or choosing to be a part of Barovia, either by having found their way to the realm some time before this adventure begins or by having lived their whole life there. Players who choose to be from Barovia are restricted to only Humans as a Race option, and have the benefit of also choosing one of the three Lineages presented in Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. I have a special document for players that want an extra challenge - Rules to embody a character with some form of curse, craving, or addiction. Perhaps you are a priestess struggling with your divinity and turn to vices, or a Dhampir resisting to slake your dark urges, or a druid cursed with lycanthropy who must isolate at the sight of raw flesh. These are a special set of rules designed to create a character that has flaws despite their apparent strength, but in a more genuine system beyond a simple d20 check to see if they randomly lose their self-control. I would love to discuss these rules more in-depth for players who are curious or have some ideas on what their next character might be! Finally, multiclassed characters must meet their required prerequisites for any and all classes they wish to accumulate. For example, a Monk/Artificer must meet the prerequisites nessecary for being both a multiclassed monk and multiclassed Artificer, requiring 13 in Wisdom and Dexterity for monk and Intelligence for Artificer, regardless of their starting class.
