Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello there! My name is Vincent, and the two little gargoyles behind me are Bobby and Smaug, my warlock familiars. I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in university with my featherless friends and it quickly became our favorite hobby, so much so that I've been running official and homebrew campaigns for us ever since. And because I'm always eager to play and meet new characters and experience new stories, I would be thrilled to GM for You, intrepid adventurer!🧝🏽🏹 I even wrote my master's thesis about the positive impact TTRPGs have on social and creative skills as a potential form of group therapy. A session a week is good for the brain! 🧠🧙

One of the best DMs for running Curse Of Strahd, having played that module with others, I can 100% say that the way Vincent handles it all is just S-tier, treating it more as an open world rather than a fixed story. Considering how large and well-developed the setting is, there's always tons to do, and even moving from one place to another is not handwaved and there's stuff happening. Generally very open-minded and helped me a ton with understanding the game and homebrewing stuffs. Mid-game having wacky and likely dum ideas is also often rewarded, so highly recommended for creative thinkers, and also any newer players who want to get into the game as the explanations of rules/what's possible are also great.
Excellent DM. He is friendly and easy going. He presents the adventures creatively and lets the narrative flow. He has a foundry set up to make the game run smoothly and easily. He lets players be creative and he works backstories into his campaign making your character feel a part of the world you're in. Would recommend jumping into one of his campaigns.
From even the first session together, I can tell Vincent is by far one of my favorite GMs. He loves player creativity and if you add flair to your actions/combat he is very rewarding. He is extremely patient considering how loot hungry I am. I definitely recommend having Vincent as your GM and adding your own unique style to his campaigns. It'll be fun.
The mood for the game was set very well and the encounters felt just right. Vincent is a good GM and is very good at communicating and helping you get your bearings if you've never played before or need a bit of a reminder on things. Is flexible about what you can do in game, with characters and I feel no idea would be shut down.I highly reccomend!
Vincent is a kind, thoughtful, and patient DM. Great at anything from introducing you to dnd to mastering foundry or working with you to fit your homebrew class or exotic race into the setting. He puts a lot of work into creating living, interesting worlds and bringing new exciting twists to dungeons.
Character creation
Creating your character
Characters start out at Level 1, using the Point Buy system (https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html) The theme of the setting restricts character options to the following playable races: Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Orc, Half-Orc, Goblin, Kobold. Please also note that Orcs, Half-Orcs, Kobolds and Goblins are usually viewed by suspicion by 'non-monstrous' races. Classes are not restricted, but spellcasters are more common among Elves and Half-Elves and artificery is a Gnomish tradition. If you're new to DnD, I'm happy to help with all the jargon and creating your first character. 👀 You can also keep your character sheet on any platform or even on paper. Same goes for rolling, physical dice are welcome, I won't stand between you and your clickity-clacks.
Train your griffon companion and join the winged knights of Marrhold against the orc and goblin invaders of the Greentide! We've started the campaign recently, and if you decide to join, every effort will be made to help you with onboarding, including: - Introductions with the party via a short session 0 in our first game together - Help with character creation, and connecting them to the setting - Readily answering all your questions

What Vincent brings to the table
🧭 Maps, handouts & unique magic items 🧙🏽 A player- and character-oriented approach 📚 All the rule books and adventure-crafting tools we might need ⚜️ Battle maps and a campaign map to explore on Foundry VTT 📜 A Quest Log to assist the note-takers of the party 🎧 Our very own Discord server for voice chat 👑 An engaging and potentially multi-generational High Fantasy experience
Homebrew rules
I use a few pages worth of popular variant rules for 5e, the character limit doesn't allow for listing them, but once you join you'll have access to them. Some examples are: - Bulk capacity replacing the usual carrying capacity, borrowed from PF2e. - Variant exhaustion rules - it is a cumulative -1 penalty per level of exhaustion, up to level 11 (where madness or death occurs). - System shock and lingering injuries starting at level 4 - it only applies at truly devastating blows, and there is a chance to resist them. - Bonus action potion drinking. - Light flanking benefits. - Plunging attacks. - Free feat at every ASI level. - Shorter short rests and only partial long rests outside of safe havens. - Many downtime activities, such as Harvesting, Crafting, Cooking, and Training. - Up to 3 Inspiration Points and Mighty Deeds.

How Vincent creates a safe table
This adventure takes place in the Renaissance/Early Modern Era of Escann in a mostly feudal, oppressive, historically awful society. The oppression of the common folk and xenophobia against 'monstrous races' is a given in most kingdoms, but there are examples of tolerance and peaceful coexistence too. We will go over safety tools, consent, the degree of medieval awfulness you are willing to tolerate, and how the party will get together in Session 0. I will also send out a consent form in which you can let me know what content you don't wish to see in our games. At the end of each session we can discuss what went well and what should be improved. This is a newbie-friendly game, I will help with the mechanical and rulebook-sides of the game, you just need to tell me what your character would like to do. 🎲
