The Creeping Vine and Sleeping Dragon
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Lurking deep in an ancient forest, a long forgotten kingdom hides in the mountain mists. Its history lost centuries ago in an apocalyptic upheaval that buried the dominant empire of civilization at the bottom of an ocean, ever swirling beneath a continent sized hurricane towering along the eastern coast of Memoria. Our story begins in the Deep North, a humid, swampy region of Memoria just along the edge of the Great Storm's wrath, in the village of Auh-May. Legends of the Creeping Vines, Singing Beasts, and the Ghosts of the Trees are intrinsic to local folklore and culture. A Goblin kingdom in the west believes the land cursed, while the southern borderland tribes worship what they believe to be the forest gods. Reports of treasure hunters disappearing after finding proof of the Lost Kingdom and its hidden secrets have reached the Western Isles, a volcanic empire nation run by Dragon-kind and spreading across the New World. Aboard a ship embarking for Auh-May our story begins... For Level 3 characters
Additional details
How to prepare
You will need a webcam (or I've had players use their self-facing phone cameras) and microphone (or again, cellphone) Have an idea of what kind of character you want to play, and we will discuss final details in session 0. A basic understanding of the rules is appreciated, though I have patience for explaining some particular or nuanced rules. I won't expect encyclopedic memorization of the whole game.
What I provide
-I currently use hand drawn maps on a dry erase gridded map on video stream for my VTT -A wide variety of figurines to represent all kinds of monsters and characters -High quality audio -Background ambiance for environments and encounters (Pocket Bard)
Gameplay details
Expect quick witted humor and adaptive story telling. I will host a free session 0 to introduce ourselves and discuss player and GM expectations. I am not a stickler about the rules, but have studied them well enough to know the mechanics and fun ways to bend them. I intend to use the rules to challenge the players appropriately, rather than bind their actions and possibilities or punish player choice and agency because "page X paragraph Y says blah blah blah." I encourage improvisation and imagination.

How will character creation work
Create level 3 characters using Legacy 5e rules (not '24 rules) Any race, any class, any background. The weirder the better in my opinion, but no wrong answers. Human Fighter? Sweet. Thri-Kreen Warlock of the Undead with an un-pronounce-able name? Bring it on. Your choices will determine aspects of the world, what kinds of cultures exist across the planet, etc.
