Can you survive Barovia (2024 rules)

Can you survive Barovia (2024 rules)

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to Barovia a land forever shrouded by fog, where the residents never see the sun. Do you have what it takes to explore this strange dark land, and survive the whims of Strahd? You will need to take on the many horrors that inhabit this land, uncover the mystery's surrounding it, and survive the cures of Strahd? This game setting is a gothic horror and open world style game. It is also one of the highest rated modules for D&D. You can expect all things that go along with Vampires, Werewolves, and Undead including but not limited to blood, violence and death This game is not for those looking to find vast amounts of treasure and magical items. No, the point of this game is to do your best, just to survive. This setting is not meant to walk you through the game, but the actions you take drive the story and determine what happens going forward. You could very easily run into things that you have no chance of beating. Running and hiding may not be the hero's way, but it could keep you alive long enough to overcome the curse on this land. Come and experience this memorable setting. There will be many thrills and chills.

Recruiting notes

Do you think you can Survive? Then come on and join us for this fun and challenging setting. The group is getting ready to go into the Amber temple a location where dark secrets are kept. They hope to find something that can help them face Strahd or at the very least get the help of a Dusk elf that asked them to help him search the Temple. The group is Level 6. We had a player need to drop out and would love to have another join the group. The players are big on roleplay and take combat seriously. I do a one on one paid session 0 to help get you set up to join the game. The session goes for 90 minutes and we will get your character ready to go and work out how you join the group along with go over any questions and information you need such as how to work Foundry and dndbeyond.

Very good for beginners! I am an experienced player, but his Gaming style makes the hobby feel that much approachable.

QM is a great guy and runs a fun campaign. Is willing to work with his players when it comes to things and also willing to take breaks if a system gets stale and try out new ones if the group is in agreement.

Tyler is an absolutely phenomenal Dungeon Master! Our Thursday night Tomb of Annihilation campaign has been nothing short of epic, thanks to his incredible storytelling and creativity. He brings the jungle of Chult to life with vivid descriptions, challenging encounters, and a world that feels alive and reactive to our every decision. What sets Tyler apart is his ability to balance the chaos of player antics with a well-thought-out narrative. Whether it’s intense combat, heartfelt roleplay, or moments of unexpected hilarity, Tyler handles it all like a pro. His flexibility and quick thinking ensure that every session feels unique and tailored to our group’s dynamic. The effort and passion Tyler pours into his role as DM make Thursday nights the highlight of my week. If you’re lucky enough to play in one of his games, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure!

Best Gaming experience I've had in a long time. A ton of uniqueness from the characters of our group to deal with and we never feel like we're stuck just on the rails of a set story. Tyler always manages to move with every idea our group collectively has. From a planned ambush, to setting up an impromptu fixed martial tournament to try and make a little extra coin!! Also he's been very good at teach us as we try on the new 2024 rules!

I joined Tyler’s campaign completely new to D&D and fell right into it, and have now been playing for nearly a year and love it. He’s the best GM. When I first started it was instantly clear just how well he knows the rules well and could explain them quickly without bogging down the game for more experienced players. Additionally, Tyler is a fantastic storyteller. He’s a quick-thinker and so clever. He is always weaving in new things to allow the players to tell the kind of story they want to tell. I genuinely look forward to his game week after week.

How to prepare

Having good internet and mic is a must. A head set is preferred to keep out background noise, but if that is not possible then I will ask that players mute themselves if they are not talking to keep back ground noise down. Please come ready to make a character, that is part of the team and not one that will be a hinderance to the group. This setting is meant to be very difficult and the group needs to work together or it will be even harder. All players will need an account for Discord, D&D Beyond and The Forge(The server site I use to share Foundry). All are free but please come with them already set up so that we do not have to wait for you to make accounts.

What I provide

I bring -My years of Game Mastering experience and willingness to improve and take the story what ever way the group wants to go including adding new content as needed. -book sharing via Dndbeyond -maintaining the game on Foundry. -Providing all maps and creating them if needed. -I like to run the game with the rule of cool, when needed and am happy to find ways to help the players accomplish what they want rather then hindering them.

Gameplay details

We will go over all safety tools as a group in session 0. We will discuses as a group and I will take note of what each player brings up for lines and vails to make sure this game setting is a good match for each player as well and seeing what content we need to watch out for or exclude from the game if possible. We will use those to guide the games content, and help everyone feel comfortable as we play. The X,N,& O method is used so that if any content starts to make someone feel uncomfortable they can tell the group or message the GM directly and I will stop whatever is going on with no need to share names or why. Open door means, that players are free to step away or leave the game for any reason and with no judgment. I ask that all players keep in mind their own emotional and mental wellbeing's, and to watch out for things from the game bleeding into other areas of life. To help with this I encourage all players to let us know if you are feeling anything like that. I also invite all players to stay and chat after the game to decompress, and to help leave any emotions at the table. If after a session anyone feels like they are experiencing any bleed, you can always message me on discord, and I am happy to talk it out over message.

How will character creation work

-We will start at level 1 and go over character creation with everyone in session 0 as we all make characters together. -I generally do rolled stats but I am happy to hear what the groups preferences are and may change that depending. -We will use 2024 rules but 2014 subclasses are allowed.
