Welcome to Draconic Park | A Thrilling 5e Escape (One-Shot)
About the adventure
You have been invited by magnate John Harmond to spend an idyllic long weekend at his soon-to-open magical menagerie and theme park. It promised to be a high-class getaway in which no expense is spared, but something has gone horribly awry. A tempest batters the lovely tropical island, and it seems like someone has been tampering with the arcane wards... With the teleportation circle down, the magical safeguards failing, and no communications into or out of the island, your vacation has taken a turn for the deadly. It's a race against time- and a variety of magical beasts- to reach the airship before the storm grounds transportation, and you become trapped among the menagerie. And if hurricane winds, mystery saboteurs, and runaway monsters weren't bad enough, rumor has it that Harmond actually managed to capture a dragon for his exhibit. It's Jurassic park with dragons, y'all.

Lucy is the BEST game master I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. Lucy really knows how to make a story perfectly immersive, creating such a fun and intense way of playing DND. I've been playing with Lucy for years, and I haven't been disappointed by her story telling skills or ability to put the player on the edge of their seat. You will not be let down by Lucy's DMing skills, I promise!
Lucy builds an entire world before her players reach the table. She has created entire religions and cultures with complex economic structures, intriguing and varied political dynamics, and natural and unnatural ecosystems. With such an alive world, the players have the opportunity to have very real relationships and impacts within the story. Players are given tough but realistic choices that grow their characters, substantive NPC relationships, and a tangible impact on their environments. Characters are challenged to meet their flaws and define their morals in the midst of often bitter, bleak circumstances. While she is a self-proclaimed wielder of the “consequence stick”, Lucy is also a fair and cooperative DM who is happy to coach newer players on how to maximize their characters, and to remind the party of information and plot points that may have last been relevant weeks or months ago. Complex plot threads are well interwoven to make an intriguing story where none of the pieces seem connected - until they do. Through a complex exploration of the party, NPCs, and setting, Lucy builds games where every detail matters, and every choice counts.
I've been playing a weekly campaign with Lucy for about 2 years now and her DMing style is fantastic. Her world building is super immersive down to the local food and trade and she takes the time to make all of our characters fit well within her world building and we feel like our actions really impact how things go in these settings. Give her an idea and she will hit the ground running with it. I have cried by Lucy's DMing (good tears I promise!). Warning: your actions have consequences and matter! She makes sure of it! HA! She's laid back and easy to work with as well so don't be afraid to hash out character backstory or details about motivations and plans going forward. Combat wise she keeps us on our toes but makes the encounters fun easy to follow. We just recently started working with roll20 for visuals with our fights so for a while it was mostly her describing the locations and settings for combat verbally and very rarely have I felt lost without visuals or maps. The maps she has made tho are easy to read and well done. She's quite the artist!
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be discussed on discord or on-site messaging prior to the campaign. There will be no charge for any time spent on character creation. Alternatively, players are welcome to take advantage of pre-made character sheets that I will provide, based on characters from the movie. Anything from the PHB and any classes from Xanthar's Guide to everything are permitted. Everything else will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need: -Dice (digital is fine) -A webcam, a mic, and consistent internet connection -Access to zoom (this DOES NOT mean you need an account, just access to the site) -A discord account -A completed & approved character sheet This campaign is open to players of all skill level and I'm more than willing to teach newcomers the ropes, though this particular campaign begins at level 5 so some familiarity with mechanics is recommended. Please come prepared for dark themes and the possibility that tragedy/horror will at times be regarded and discussed in a humorous or flippant manner. (Again, it's Jurassic Park with dragons, and it's 5e. Things may get wild.) Character voices encouraged but not required.
What Lucy brings to the table
- D&D rulebooks - Assistance building character sheets - Custom setting and enemies - Custom character-driven campaign - Music - Rule of Cool - NPC voices -Pre-gen character sheets (optional) I will work with players to develop an appropriate character and backstory for the setting. No players need access to any core rule books, though it can help. I generally prefer to use theater of the mind and seldom use combat maps, though there may be terrain or location maps. Though I'm not a professional voice actor by any means, I'm a believer in character voices and I love dramatic RP and involved character arcs. I'm also a huge fan of Jurassic Park (it's one of my favorite movies) and I'm very excited to play a fun and referential thriller/escape.

How Lucy creates a safe table
It's important to me that everyone in the table is engaged in an open, respectful dialogue about boundaries and consent. We're going to be playing a game based on a horror/thriller movie, which means death, violence, and suspense, so checking in as friends and fellow members of the community is critical to a safe, fun experience. I'm always open to discussion and adapting the campaign to work for everyone, but please come for content on par with the source material and common to many of the more ferocious 5e enemies, including dragons. THIS GAME WILL INCLUDE THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING HUNTED, CHASED, TRICKED, OR TRAPPED by monsters that mean to kill and eat the players. There is a possibility that this game ends with a failure to escape/TPK. Characters may be killed without the opportunity for revival, and this game may involve the harm or death of children. NPCs will be killed and possibly eaten. ANIMALS AND BEASTS WILL BE HARMED/EATEN.
