Five Figures
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
(FREE SESSION 0) In the world of everyday magic that is fantasy 1980s NYC, a fight rages between the forces of order and chaos. Someone is targeting the protective spirits of the eight boroughs (Eami-art district, Minnund-finance district, Newquarter-immigrant communities, Theise-staten island, Wend- crime neighborhoods, Dund-gated communities for the puritan and wealthy, Lamber- magic rejecting district, and Thim - industry sector), which is leaving space open for some rapidly realizing urban legends. AND, to make It all worse, there's a new mayor up for election who may not have the city's best interests at heart. What side will our players choose and how far will they go for their city?

How to prepare
There are no programs or accounts absolutely necessary, but you should have a mic and some method of common video calling, discord or google meet. I prefer to play cameras on because it's more engaging for everyone, but if it's a real comfort problem we can talk. You'll need to create your own characters but can expect a free session 0 with time to work through any building issues you might have.
What I provide
I have my whole delightful world set up built out with lore, maps, and specific feat/subclass content! I love talespire, jam board, and occasionally going from scratch to build my own map models. In the same craft energy, I almost always design campaign custom character sheets :)! In terms of style, I am light on voices but do include some, often have ambient combat music to keep up energy during tactical terms, and occasional use a little sound board (from a garage sale on 2016, but still going strong). I love rule of cool. It only goes so far, but I'm willing to find out where that line is. In fact, I've designed campaigns around finding that line.
Gameplay details
This isn't a particularly intense story or setting, but it does involve characters who are bad people, action movie BLAM, POW combat, stressful or dangerous situations for PCs, and substance use settings like bars or clubs. I generally am able to send non spoiler content warnings before sessions, and spend some time in session 0 going through any specific phobias or points of serious discomfort. XNO systems are definitely more of just a message, preferably a dm, because that's much harder to miss while in the moment.

How will character creation work
I'm a big believer in character based storytelling so you tell me your pitch, and I'll try my best to get it rooted in the world. I'm hoping to run a free session 0 to test out basic ideas, introduce the world, and see character interactions. I am always hoping for characters with some backstory for me to latch onto, but stats and mechanics are something e can work out together. I don't actually use dndbeyond, I use dungeon master's vault or (preferably) actual editable character sheets and/or google docs that I can reformat into my own note taking style. I believe in honor system roll 4d6, because what fun is the game if you lie about it(?!), a whole party starting at level 3-5 (depending on what we determine for experience in session 0) and expecting a rapid upward movement because I love higher level Doing.
