About Darren "Ren"
I am a self-proclaimed nerd and cinephile with a passion for storytelling. With over two decades of role-playing experience starting at age 14 in middle school, I've honed my skills to craft engaging tales that let players take center stage. From Salt Lake City game conventions to DragonCon, I've had the privilege of running tables and meeting fellow enthusiasts who share my love for this hobby. When not GMing or writing new adventures, you can find me devouring movies, books, and comics from all genres. My goal is simple: create a welcoming atmosphere where friends are made, stories unfold, and everyone leaves with unforgettable memories.

I became a GM because
I have loads of stories in my head, like all the time
I got started GMing...
As a middle school kid who loved Robotech. My friends and I bought a book, and learned to play by ourselves.
My favorite shows/movies are
Movies where we have a lot of action and adventure, but we have a strong story. Like Bladerunner, or Princess Bride.
How Darren "Ren" runs games
As a Game Master, I strive for an open and inclusive table where everyone feels welcome. Character secrets are fair game out of character, so we can all get to know each other better! In-game, you'll find me crafting stories that adapt to the unique play styles and characters you bring to the table. Don't worry about being led by the nose - I believe in giving players agency and clear choices when they need them. But don't expect a free-for-all either; we'll work together to create an immersive experience. My guiding principle is Rule 0: “If you're not having fun, then we need to change things.” As a GM, my goal is simple - I want everyone at the table to leave with big smiles and memories that will last long after our adventures are over.

Darren "Ren"'s ideal table
I'm thrilled to invite you to join me on an adventure where creativity, collaboration, and camaraderie reign supreme. At our table, we celebrate diversity in all its forms - whether that means different backgrounds, identities, or play styles. What drives me is a passion for storytelling, character development, and the art of world-building. I'm not about competition; instead, I believe the game should be an enjoyable experience where everyone contributes their unique perspectives and ideas. If you're looking for a space to share your love for stories like you find in Marvel comics, Wheel of Time series, or authors like Terry Pratchett or Philip K Dick, then we might just click! Our games often focus on character-driven narratives, exploring the intricacies of politics, relationships, and life events within the context of our chosen world. As your Game Master, I strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered. If you're looking for a table that prioritizes fun, creativity, and mutual respect, then let's embark on this adventure together!
