About Andrew

My name is Andrew, and I'm a lifelong tabletop gamer and GM. I played in my first campaign in 2010, with D&D 3e, and have been playing ttrpgs almost nonstop after that point. I can't recall a time in my life after that first campaign when I haven't had at least one campaign going at any given time. I GM'd for the first time in 2013, loved the experience, and have been running games since then. Beyond TTRPGS, my hobbies include writing, cooking, and recently needlework.

How Andrew runs games

The core ideal of my GM'ing style is that rules exist to fuel the roleplay experience, which is in turn the core that the entertainment is built around. If a rule does not empower the party and allow us to share laughter and joy, then that rule either needs to be changed to reflect our situation, or be abolished completely. I believe that heroes are forged, not born; and that a party needs to EARN their happy ending. To fuel that belief, I mix fast paced, dynamic combat with high stakes social encounters, complex moral situations, and top it all off with an equitable, welcoming atmosphere where we are all feel safe to express ourselves.

I lay down on the couch, put some jazz on, and go over my notes. This usually involves a mix of doing exaggerated versions of npc voices, double checking encounter tables, and reviewing character sheets.

Rules are...

Be excellent to each other, offer and accept clear communication, respect the Lines and Veils of the party.

Bigotry of any sort. It's wholly unwelcome here. Deliberate malice offered to your fellow players. Real World politics. I understand every has strong opinions on a variety of topics, but lets keep it away from the table.
