About DM_Grimace

Hi. I have been playing roleplaying games of all sorts for the last 40 years. I have played nearly every edition of D&D, some GURPS, Warhammer Fantasy, Earthdawn and Marvel Super Heroes. I had a regular group I played with in High School, which was my first exposure to a "real" campaign and it was Ravenloft. I was inspired by how my DM crafted believable villains and stories. Over the years, I found myself being a DM by default and have inspired others to take up the reigns and try it for themselves. One of my proudest moments as a DM is seeing my players take on DMing and playing with them. Outside of dungeons and dragons, I enjoy games like Kids on Bikes, GURPS, Pathfinder and other types of roleplaying games. I strive to make my tables fun, inclusive and respectful.

When I'm not running games I'm...

When I’m not running games, I’m creating art, crocheting, or working on community projects. I love spending time with my family, playing games together, and finding inspiration for the next great adventure.

How DM_Grimace runs games

My style is story-first, I try and keep a health mix of roleplay, combat and exploration so every kind of player has their moment and can keep engagement. I love when characters give me backgrounds I can hook into and provide villains, adversaries or supporting cast members that round out the playing experience for them. I keep rulings quick and flexible, I try not to delay the story and will revisit after the fact or pause while we seek a resolution. I enjoy adjusting the pace to whatever keeps the group engaged. My goal as a GM is simple, I want the players I create a story with to walk away with good memories and a good story to tell about their characters and our world. I want them to be excited to play with me, and feel like they are heard and taken care of.

DM_Grimace's ideal table

My table is all about collaboration, creativity, and fun. I want players to feel welcome, safe, and excited to tell a story together. Whether you’re brand-new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, you’ll fit in if you bring curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to play off the group’s energy. At my table, I encourage roleplay, character-driven choices, and a balance of lighthearted moments with dramatic tension. Rules are important, but the story always comes first—we’ll bend mechanics if it makes for a more memorable scene. I love when players engage with the world, ask questions, and bring their own ideas to the table. The vibe? Think of it as a group of friends gathered to laugh, explore, and sometimes get goosebumps together. There’s room for tactical thinkers, improv actors, quiet strategists, and jokesters—as long as everyone respects each other and makes space for every voice. If you enjoy weaving character backstories into the main plot, collaborating on creative problem-solving, and celebrating the big and small wins as a party, you’ll feel right at home at my table.
