About the adventure

"You have been captured by the evil orc tyrant King Smashemdead. You are being forced to participate in his brutal slave pit arena for entertainment! How will you fare!?" Have a fun build your DM won't let you use? Want to try a new class out with no pressure? Want to Min/Max your way to optimal stats? Or maybe you just want to run some combat encounters to blow off some steam. No matter your reason, the Smashemdead Pits offers you a low-investment space to engage in D&D combat, as well as some scant skill challenges and other randomized events. This one-shot is intended as an on-going, roleplay-optional, tongue-in-cheek platform for randomly generated combat encounters for players to try out their characters against different enemies, with some tossed in randomized events in between battles that could change how your party handles the next arena fight. In this way, players are encouraged to play as many times as they want, using their same characters or rolling new ones, since each play-through will be different. Here's how it works: 1. The player characters receive a random magic item (which has a small chance of being cursed!😨) 2. First Battle (Easy Difficulty) 3. Random Downtime Event Or Short Rest (Player Choice) 4. Second Battle (Medium Difficulty + Random Complication) 5. Random Downtime Event Or Short Rest (Player Choice) 6. Third Battle (Hard Difficulty, Unique Scenario and Location) If you survive all three battles (only one adventurer needs to survive each battle for the whole party to pass) then your character is granted their freedom to leave. But if you fail, you cannot leave! That all being said, this adventure isn't meant to be taken seriously, we're just here to have some fun with a little set dressing. βš”οΈ Combat Focused Arena πŸ“ˆ Ramping Difficulty 🎭 Downtime Events/Challenges 🎲 Randomized Enemies, Complications ♾️ Replay Value πŸ§ͺ Experimental New One-shot/Free Playtest
