Sunday's One-Days: The Tinkerer's Treasures
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
In the northern Ametrine Range of Rubicelle, there is a territorial war proceeding the discovery of a lucrative platinum mine that rests on the borders of the dwarven and goliath lands. Both sides demand that they have the rights and claim to it, and so skirmishes have broken out in that area with losses on both sides. After centuries of peace between the two, they just can't seem to see eye-to-eye and there's definitely some stubbornness getting in the way as well as the height of the situation. In one of the skirmishes with some heavy losses on the dwarven side, an elder dwarven man, Grenkahm Bronzegun, looses his son and has had enough of this deadly bickering. He has an idea that would silence this once and for all, but the rest of his clan thinks he's just grief-stricken and won't help him. He sends out for aid, for a group of adventures that would set out looking for an item that will help him in his plans. Such a task would be deadly for him in his old age, but some younger and more spry folks could handle this. He knows legend of a powerful artifact that would be just the thing to complete his plans and roughly whereabouts it is, but not exactly how to get to it. In a somewhat close gnomish town is an archive of wondrous inventive treasures, but the group will have to break in somehow to the vault to retrieve this item. With the promise of great reward and the heist of a lifetime, will you be one of the few willing to risk it all and perhaps end this war before more blood spelt?
Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
This is a 10th level artificer's dungeon, there will be traps, puzzles, and combat as well. This should run about 4 hours, depending on what the characters do and how the dice roll lol I'm really excited about this one, which usually means it turns out pretty fun.

How to prepare
A webcam is completely optional and not not required at all. I don't use one myself. A mic is required for voice on Discord. Headphones/earbuds are recommended though as long as there isn't an echo coming through, it should be fine. Please have your characters built before game, any questions with that please ask away. And don't forget to find some art for them, google image search or ai will be just fine. I think I've addressed everything somewhere in the listing but if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. I'm open-minded and really laid back.
What I provide
I try to stick with rules as written because it sets a standards, but I do use rule of cool and try to 'yes, and' when it's something plausible and not game breaking. Of course it's case by case, but I'm pretty open minded. I encourage thinking outside the box, long as it's not something completely absurd, lol. While not that great at voices and accents, I do try, and the least it will be is hopefully funny. I am all for constructive criticism and encourage suggestions and feedback. Even something negative can be addressed in a positive way. There is a Vast compendium available on my Roll20 with plenty of options for creation. Please don't ask for more 3rd party than I already have available. It's just a one-shot :) As per compendium sharing rules on Roll20, to keep the numbers down, after the game is done, you will be removed from the game. Your character will be archived in case you'd like to come back for another one and use the same one. I do have a couple house rules, but from what I've seen around, it's nothing out of the norm. Bonus action potions and familiars/summons going on your initiative, etc. There is a handout in the Roll20 that lists the house rules, and we'll go over them before we start. There's also some Roll20 setting we're go over quickly to hopefully better enhance your VTT gaming experience.
Gameplay details
Please let me know before hand if there are any issues, topics, or triggers that should be avoided. I hold no judgements, nor need any explanations. There will be a break at mid-point, but if you need a break otherwise, just say so :)

How will character creation work
After you join the game and discord, then you'll get the Roll20 link where you can just go right in and grab a blank character sheet to start building. There are a lot of options, not just the normal ones, so feel free to browse around. Be sure to do it plenty of time before game, especially if you're thinking a caster because there are a lot of spells there too. Please find some art for your character and familiar or extra if you have one as well. I will make you a token with said art. Please do not have a mount expected in battle with you, this story is a dungeon-like setting and it rarely works unless you're a smol on a dog or something, lol. There are steampunk-esque styles to some of this, feel free to style as such. Firearms are allowed, but not anything with lasers or anti-matter. For stats, please copy/paste this into the R20 chat: /r 4d6dl1r<1 Roll 7 times and keep the highest 6 numbers for your stats. When leveling up to 10, take max hp. Total HP should be 10 x hit die + (CON mod x 10) Example 10 x D8 = 80. CON 3 x 10 = 30. Max HP is 110. You are allowed your starting equipment and you can choose 2 rare, 4 uncommon, and however many common items you want. You also start with 100GP. I will have maps that either I made or have purchased or have a patreon account with. Ambient music is provided by a Kenku.fm Discord bot and volume can be adjusted while in chat. Any other questions, just ask!
