About the adventure

You will take on the role of a for-hire group of moderate repute. You have been hired for a new job and are just arriving to meet with the client for a "night on the town", on him, the evening before your intended departure. The meeting place is a moderately-sized adventuring university town in the midst of a folk music festival. The details you have been given: -You shall escort a local human male student into a nearby cave system to help him study the local goblin population for his final project. -The goblins have not been violent toward others and mostly keep to themselves. -A few individuals have been known to wander the area offering strange mechanical artifacts with bizarre properties for trade. Some claim they used to see a goblin or two around town occasionally. -The locals tell rumours of strange noises in the night, large unrecognizable beasts near the caves which release smoke and fumes, disappearing children, and all the entire array of typical folktales. There is yet to be any hard evidence and most stories aren't taken seriously. -Not much is known about them beyond that. He wishes to spend 2-3 days inside learning as much about them as he can. You are not entirely sure why a local college kid would hire such an expensive and renowned group for a seemingly simple task like this. Regardless of your personal feelings on the matter, a hefty pay day for poking around a goblin cave is hard to say no to. Expect a delve, some fighting, some creeping, some thinking, and maybe some running. Y'know- the usual! I always encourage fairly heavy RP, even in dungeon-based one-shots. I find it tends to lead to a better experience for everyone overall but it is not necessary.

Gameplay details

Tools I utilize: 1. Lines and Veils: Lines are hard limits on content and Veils are soft limits of things that are okay to include in the story but not to delve into scenes and/or details of. I will make note of anything that ought or needs to be avoided. 2. X, N, O Cards: Type "X" in chat to let me know that you are uncomfortable with what is happening or would like to discuss something in private. Type "N" in chat if you feel that a scene is heading toward an "X" moment. We will figure out how to adjust. Type "O" in chat to signify that you are okay to continue. I will usually prompt an "O" check, but feel free to use it whenever. 3. Debrief: After each session, we will check in as a group and discuss the night's events. I understand that RPG's can have a real-life impact on people and I want to ensure that impact is a positive one. 4. Honesty: I will always be incredibly open and honest about how I am doing and what my intentions are. For the betterment of all players involved, I ask that we all maintain an open line of communication. Fun becomes a challenge in something as complex as an RPG when communication is not present.
