About the adventure

It's been 40 years since the Mourning, the day Cyre was wiped clean from the map. This left a gray haunted hellscape in the center of Khorvaire from which the great Blackclaw mountain ascended. The mysterious mountain had drawn the attention of factions all across Khorvaire, as untold treasure, relics, and magic were thought to be held within the many caverns and tunnels inside. But then the Grendleroot started to grow. About five years after the Blackclaw mountain rose, tens of thousands of unbreakable black metal spires erupted from the rock of the mountain, spreading through it like the roots of weeds. These spires destroyed any sort of base camp that previous adventurers and explorers had tried to build and maintain. No one knows what caused the growth of the Grendelroot, or even the rising of the Blackclaw mountain for that matter. Does the alien distortion of the Mournland have a part to play in it all? While many seek the answers to these questions, for both good or ill, our group of brave adventurers have been sent to Blackclaw mountain to represent their group patron and carry out the goals of that group.

How to prepare

Webcams are required. For the best experience for all, mics are encouraged. Players should familiarize themselves with the basic 5E rules (I am available before session if player needs help). Players will also need a Roll20 and Discord account. Players who familiarize themselves with the lore of Eberron will also have a better experience, although this is not required.

I will provide all game and rule documentation needed to play the game.

Gameplay details

All safety tools and Lines and Veils will be discussed individually before session zero, and then altogether as a group during our session zero. Players can expect a story-driven game with riveting combat, deep characters, and a tangible world. We will be combining Keith Baker's Eberron world with Slyflourish's Grendleroot campaign and throwing in several homebrew rules from Hit Point Press that I feel fit the setting very well. We will decide on a group patron that all character's will be a part of during our session zero; however, how the player's choose to work within that organization is up to them. How will character creation work

We will create all characters together during our session zero. The group will agree on a group patron that their characters all work for and then we will make characters that fit within that group (Examples include the Wayfinder Foundation, Daask, Templars of the Silver Flame, etc). We will also be using some homebrew classes from Hit Point Press alongside all officially published classes (Homebrew classes are: Alchemist, Craftsman, Gunslinger, Investigator, Martyr, Necromancer, Warden, Warmage, and Witch).
