This week, Roll20 and StartPlaying are teaming up to introduce you to new TTRPGs and new D&D friends. Roll20Con will be underway from November 12-14 with previews, announcements, charity, and special online games run by professional GMs. With so much going on, we thought it would help to break it all down. Here’s everything you can do during Roll20Con 2021.
Play Games With Pro GMs
StartPlaying is the provider for this year’s Roll20Con games! To see what we’re offering, just head over to this page. There are beginner games to learn D&D, starter sessions for campaigns, and introductions to exciting TTRPG systems like Avatar Legends and Dune. Games are happening at all times of day throughout the weekend.
Signing up is as easy as creating an account and selecting the session of your choice. From there, the GMs will help with character creation and Roll20 onboarding. These are online sessions, so be sure to have a mic ready and chat service like Zoom installed. Don’t be hesitant to join a game if this is your first time playing, it is for a lot of other people as well!
Donate To Code 2040
A big part of Roll20Con is helping to foster an inclusive and welcoming community. To that end, Roll20Con 2021 is promoting Code2040, a group dedicated to building the largest racial equity community in tech. Specifically, their focus is on connecting and boosting Black and Latinx people in various innovation industries. A portion of the proceeds from StartPlaying games played during Roll20Con will be donated to Code2040. You can also donate directly and participate in Roll20's donation stream.
Streams To Watch
If you’re more of the type that likes to watch before trying, then you might be interested in Roll20Con’s streams. Actual plays will take you through the thrills of a session of Call of Cthulhu, Vampire the Masquerade, and D&D’s upcoming Strixhaven. Preview streams will show off the Roll20 versions of the Power Rangers RPG and the con-exclusive Festival of Emerelda. (You can also get Festival of Emerelda for free by signing up to Roll20’s mailing list.) Finally, Roll20 itself will put on a hilarious fundraising stream for Code2040 and an announcement stream about the future of the platform.
Friday and Saturday streams will take place at 4pm PST and 7pm PST, while Sunday’s events air at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. You can catch them all on Roll20’s Twitch channel.
Roll20Con is sure to be exciting for both TTRPG newbies and fans alike! It’s a great time to try out a new TTRPG, meet players that might become your forever party members, and help a great cause. Come join us on November 12-14 and celebrate the diverse world of online role playing games!
