Invisigoth23 closed her calendar app with a flick of her wrist, the AR overlay vanishing from her field of view. Nothing all weekend. No job. No meetings with her fixer. Not even that occasional solo sec tech job that crawled in and to take up her free days and nights. Credits are credits, and a weekend without credits rolling in was usually something to be frustrated about.
Despite all that, Invisi grinned as the calendar blinked out of existence. She’d had a good week, they’d happened, the corpo craphead she and the crew had been after for about six weeks up and had a heart attack after certain... videos of him... released to the public and his board dropped him. Worth a ton. Saved some lives.
“Me time.” Invisi said to herself. She fired off a series of web crawlers, and just like magic, they returned a number of positives for the one thing she wanted more than anything. A game night. This Friday. The magic of the Netrunner, baby!
Unfortunately, you aren’t a full blown cyberdeck jockey, but that doesn’t mean it has to be hard to find a group to play Cyberpunk Red by R Talsorian Games Inc.
Maybe you played Cyberpunk 2077 and it just wasn’t enough. Maybe you’ve seen an Actual Play run by the man himself, Mike Pondsmith. Or maybe you’re an old school fan of the game since its first edition (1988) and you want to get back into it.
But you’ve got one problem.
You can’t go to the Friday Night Firefight if you don’t have a crew.
Luckily, you don’t have to be a netrunner to find a game group these days! Thanks to the broad fanbase and popularity of this game, there are tons of places to go looking for the perfect chromed up crew to explore Night City with!
StartPlaying Games
Of course, if you really want to be sure the group you found is dedicated, and the GM you’re playing with is the best of the best, you can always take a look at the professional GMs available on startplaying.games.
Using StartPlaying’s game search you can look for Cyberpunk Red games at the times and on the days that fit your schedule! While you’re there, you can check out the profiles of each GM that runs it! See what other people are saying in GM and game reviews. Read the GM profiles and their game pitches to find the right fit for your playstyle using the various search options. Know you’re protected at the table as GMs list their safety tools, as well as the site’s TOS to give you enough room to play the stories you want without having to sweat about the types of stories you don’t want!
Did you find a GM with experience running Cyberpunk Red, but no tables listed at your ideal time? You can contact them through the site with a custom request! They might be able to throw together exactly what you need!
Brick and Mortar Stores
It’s always a great idea when looking for any game group to stop by your local game store! Many hobby stores that sell tabletop roleplaying games also host space for groups to play! They may have game nights, invite GMs to host open tables, or schedule meet-ups so you can get to know a potential crew before you have them over for pizza and dice.
If not, they might have a board to post or find posts from groups in your area looking to play any number of games. Leave your own flier up, or check to see if anyone else is running Night City in your own city. (Or town or what have you!)
Don’t know any stores near you? Sites like boardgamegeek.com have lists you can check by country, state, or region!
Tabletop Gaming Conventions
It’s an incredible amount of fun to travel to a convention, try out games you’ve been dying to play, or play some familiar games.
Of course travel can be expensive, and while I’m sure you can find a table to play Cyberpunk Red at any major tabletop gaming convention, that doesn’t help you find a regular group.
Unless you check out a local convention. Many cities all over the world host smaller game conventions! Also check with universities nearby as they also have small gave conventions where you’ll play with locals!
Sites like Fancon have huge lists of a number of large and small local conventions where you might be able to meet the group for you.
Roll20
You’re not living in the age of chrome and chaos, but you do have the entire net at your fingertips. So why not check out what it has to offer?
Roll20 is one of the big dogs in the virtual tabletop scene, an app or site where you can play games with digital maps, minis, and even digital dice rolling. They provide all the tools to get a game of Cyberpunk Red off the physical table and on to a digital one.
But they’re also a great source to find games! Roll20 has a great Looking for Group tool built right in to help you find other players.
